Which wheels allow you to run 275s in rear

I know there are random ones floating around but maybe a thread will help anyone like myself looking for wheels that allow beefy tires to be in one spot.

Apex arc 8
apex ec7

forgestar cf5
forgestar f14

give me some more!

That's about it. You'd want a 9.5"ish wheel, or maybe a 10", with an offset in the 55 to 63 range. Some companies offer custom offsets but if you don't specify them they'd probably try to sell you something with a 45ish offset.

The other option is to do the rear brake hub conversion that some of have done. It moves the outside of the hub in around 6-8 mm.

I waited until I needed to replace my rear rotors to do the hub mod. The mechanic will have to do some bearing work, etc. I lost my emergency brake but I think they could have worked it out if my car had not been an auto and not needed the E-brake that much. I guess it was in a the range of $1k extra to do the mod, not sure.

i read in some of your posts that you mechanic mized and matched the kit according to what he was most comfortable with. i should be able to retain ebrake with the ecs setup. i still have more research to do but it seems promising.

its funny i just did this on my e30 less than a year ago. well hearsed in hub and bearing removal and replacement now

Yep, this shop is an excellent Indy type shop. But I guess they were not comfortable using a spacer or cutting anything. I might try to get them to rig up an E-brake someday. I bet the new ECS offering will work well.

I was at 3deg camber, fenders aggressively rolled, pulled, trimmed, etc and I still rubbed with 255/30/19 Michelin PSS's. I had ran other tires before without issues. After the brake hub mod I went back to 2deg camber and I still have tons of room. I doubt it will rub with 265 PSS's, but we'll see when these tires wear out. I do not plan to try 275 PSS's. My wheel dimensions, etc are listed in my signature below.

Depends a lot on what brand tire you use. PSS will be tight, Toyo/Falken/Nitto will make it much easier, but really won't be wider than a 265 PSS.

APEX with a spacer. You need an offset around 52-55 to not rub on the inside with a fat tire.

With the hub conversion it should be effectively an ET53 -- I think it might work but it will be very very close.

My apex setup (9.5" ET58) doesn't rub on either side without a spacer

I will roll fenders so et53 on 275 should be a perfect flush.

I plan on doing PSS as they are the best street tires I could find that don't need much heat in them to work well and will also hold up on the track. Any other recommendations?

I have the potenza pole position s-04s and I love them but PSS should be one step above that.

A tire I had in the past I wish I could run was the toyo proxes r1r. amazing grip even when cold.

For my 2012 135i Space Grey, I've bought the Vossen VVS CVT Gloss Graphite. Got the rears as 19" x 10" with et55 offset.

What do you believe I can fit on the back?

Thanks!

SloMo, that's a good offset, I also think you have a good chance at getting 275s to fit. However, on my first set I'd try a smaller running tire like maybe Nitto555's or something else inexpensive, just in case. If I had to use PSS's, etc, then I'd go with 265s. Even with that, I'm not sure that you won't rub the outer fender a little until you add camber, etc.

So pretty confident that we can get a 265 30 19 on there with little worry - nicely tucked in. I plan on possibly doing a set of coilovers to drop it slightly, to sit just right.

I'm thinking of getting Hankook Ventus v12's any thoughts about how wide they run?

Thanks - and big apologies I did not mean to hijack the thread - I'm hoping this is valuable info for all - these rims seem to be very cool, and have a tremendous positive offset and as a few think, maybe fit a 275 (with some camber)?

Thanks!

v12s run narrow compared to most summer tires. very narrow compared to any R compound. Tire rack has specs for each size

So looking up on TireRack I found that the Sumitomo HTR Z III at a 275 20 19 they're 10.5" section width compared to most other tires @ 10.9" section width. Making this the more narrow overall 275 available. The others that compare favorably are:

V12 10.9
P Zero 10.7
Bridgestone RE760 10.7
Bridgestone RE11 10.7
Yoko S-Drive 10.6
Yoko AD08-R 10.6
Sumitomo HTR-Z 10.5

If this means what I think it means - then I'll have something to show y'all some time next week when the 235 (fronts) and 275 (backs) arrive with my Vossen VVS CTR Graphites with et55 offset.

Hope this works - could be killer!

I've had Sumis on my Porsche, they do run small. Generally not as small as Falkens, Toyos, most similiar to Nittos I'd say. Sometimes those measured dimensions can still be off, and the style of sidewall makes a difference too.
