It's actually cheaper to get a new (including shipping) one based on what he was asking for the older model and the value of the Aussie Dollar at the moment.

I'd say it was a triumph of patience...

I wasn't quite sure what Kenny was getting at as well.

In my experience Rick's gauges take a LONG time. Meanwhile you asked a guy who will make money from selling you the new version "Should I buy the new version or buy a previous version gauge in Perth?". And he STILL said .. you can't tell the difference once it's installed.

I guess when you in are no rush it doesn't matter does it?

I rather just get the latest version even if it means taking 2-3 months to get here.

And as Angus said the price wasn't competitive enough to make me sway over getting an older version.

He's not the only guy I asked...

Actually he said that it's "functionally similar" and that most people wouldn't know the difference but that it's completely new hardware underneath.

So just like any other "computer"... You wouldn't get me paying the same price for last year's computer just by putting it in a shiny case (or because it "looks" the same)...

Just sayin'...

Also, others on here have mentioned that the older brackets are less sturdy and that the Vents don't always move the way they're supposed to without trimming...

End of the day it's my $$$...

If it were me I would wait for the new gauge. I doubt Rick will run into any delays this time as our group but was for the first RHD units ever built.

Also it doesn't bother me nearly as much when I buy something only to see it cheaper or on sale shortly after compared to buying something then it being outdated or succeeded by a new model not long after my purchase. I try to time my purchases accordingly. Having said that, the changes to this gauge are all internal anyway.

Me too - I would rather buy the latest version unless there is a significant saving on the older product (read 50% off)

Yeah I understand and I sympathise. My instincts are always to go with the latest and greatest, but I try to fight this with some reality checks.

I do know always having the latest is impossible for more than a few months!

That's true but there's always a feeling of satisfaction buying a product when it just comes out, regardless of when it is succeeded with a new model. The v2 and v2.1 are virtually the same though whereas the v1 was solely a boost gauge.
