Removing my secondary cats and resonator

Yesterday I went to get a quote for straight pipes from where my secondary cats are to my oem exhaust and they wanted to charge me $350 for a custom y pipe and installation, does this sound reasonable, or does any else know of any custom muffler houses in Colorado?

Are any advantages/disadvantages over cutting off secondary cats vs. N55 midpipe swap? If anything, I assume the N55 midpipe should look better since it's OEM?

With that much cost, I would rather go with aftermarket midpipe.
You can't guarantee what kind of job they will do on your midpipe.

That is not a bad price, but make sure the Y-section is made properly otherwise you will have more restriction than OE and defeats the purpose of the mod in the first place.

Alternatively, you can get a Berk mid-pipe for $599 with better sound and more performance for your N54 135i.

The stock N54 mid pipes are like $2K new from BMW!
The stock N55 mid pipes(with no secondary cats!) is around $400.

The main benifit on a N54 car - using the N55 pipe would be faster (turbo)spool up, more sound and more power(HP).

Personally I would not let anyone cut up you OE mid pipes with cats. It could cost you some serious $$$ down the road, IF you ever needed to put the car back to "stock".

Is the Berk midpipe even less restrictive than the stock N55 midpipes without the secondary cats?

Why? wouldn't they just re-weld the stock pieces back together, I imagine they would just charge me labor that time since they aren't building anything, so most likely i think it would cost $150 at most
