One by one does add up because to the freight.

I looked into this with Tyre rack and it is nearly as expensive to ship 2 as 4 wheels.

Here is a copy of all the invoices mate. I have also added this under the original group by section. Hope it helps. I just thought people should know what they are up for if buying these wheels.

Wheels are on the car now and look great!, but would of preferred if I knew that i was up for $618 extra. I thought it would be $200-$300. Not a lot in the scheme of things I know, but still a bit of money for not much extra service, considering I even had to go and pick them up from Alexandria!

That is a rip off!

You understand that your duty is only $269. The broker's fee is over that amount!

That is just ridiculous. I am sure you will be happy with the wheel but buying a $900USD set of wheel to get $600AUD tax and charges I think it is insane.

Back to my point. I will rather spend the money to ship it two by two. You see your freight charges is $399. Say ship is two by two is $600USD. You are still way ahead if that means you avoid tax. If you ship two by two, you can ask them to place the invoice - "wheel - replacement parts". It is very true... coz you are replacing your OEM wheel, but the custom officer will think that it is returned and replacement product or something.

I ship one wheel from Japan via EMS - no tax what so ever.

Thanks for posting that up, mr 130. The duty and gst are reasonable, it is the other charges that are ridiculous. Electronic entry fee? Come on, these charges are just blatant tax grab!

well the other charges are not tax grab... looks like it is going to the tax broker's pocket!

I think there is a broker next to custom in Melbourne Airport. They charge me $50 last time (6-7 years ago) I used them. Talking about inflation here ...

Well my tyres arrived and I've obviously offended the Gods - all of them. The total fees/duty/tax came to $333 of which $100.30 was GST and $89 was customs "clearance". Handling fees etc absorbed the rest.

Customs assessed the tyres at $1003 so charged GST. It also appears that automotive parts are being "blitzed" at the moment so nearly all are being searched, hence the $89 fee.

When I bought the tyres the cost was under $1000, but the Aussie peso has since fallen and customs applied the rate of exchange at the time of clearance. I could argue the point but....

I hate "the sytem"!

Bottom line is that I still saved about $400.

No they have a print out of all the exchange rate of the day. Ask them about it... you may get a refund.

I will do the same as you did. Pay first, get the stuff. Enjoy it.

And THEN I will go back to hassle them.

A few phone call to get $300... better than some housewife breathing heavily right?
