FMINUS Detailed: 2009 BMW 135i Jet Black

FMINUS Detailed: 2009 BMW 135i Jet Black

This is a new car with less than 3k on the odo. Even being new, there were plenty of VERY deep swirling and RIDS. It was also ridden with waterspots.

Cosmoline and other contaminates were also plenty on the paint.

After removing the clear bra per owners request, I went to work. I removed the majority of the swirls and RIDS, but the surface definitely wasnt perfect. However, I did not want to remove too much clear as the car is an 09, and also Jetblack. The owner decided to correct the clear perpetually as opposed to taking too much off all at once.

Yeah, those swirls are what I'm dealing with too, to a lesser extent. My car has 1500 miles, I've ALWAYS only used the 2 bucket method to wash and have dried with high-quality MF towels. And still, I have (light) swirls that can be seen in the sun. I'm convinced that they're simply unavoidable. Now, when the car isn't in the direct sunlight it looks great. I've buffed it with Menz SIP and 85rd, with a Flex. It looks awesome right afterward but the light scratches just come back. I'm convinced it's BMW paint because my wife had an 05 MDX that she brought through commercial carwashes many, many times and I never saw the swirling that I'm getting on the 1er.

Looks great, I was ready to comment that it was Black Sapphire Metallic because of the first few pics, before realizing it was just surface dust. I love that you removed the clear bra, that stuff looks horrible on every car I see it on. If you're not into detailed cars, I suppose it works okay, but it just looks terrible on anything that's truly clean. Great work!

A properly installed clear bra is not an eye sore and most of the time invisible. But I will add that majority of clear bra jobs looks horrible on black.

I really need a detail like this on my JB 135i...I have some seriously hideous swirl marks that really pop in the sun. I'm in the DC area and can't seem to find a detailer like this.

i removed the bra cause it was cheap 3m film, i have a guy doing a custom job. he is supposed to be the best i will post pics after he is done whit the car. He tucks the edges and so on so they are not exposed and so you cannot really tell it is their...on the bumper at least. Black jack try using a foam gun and not using a wash mitt just a pressure washer with de-ionized water, and an electric leaf blower to dry it off that way you dont have to touch the car to clean it... this is what i will be doing from now on.

I don't think that you can really clean off dirt without touching the surface?? I would think the method described above would leave dirt behind......

If there is a good layer of LSP on the car, that method would work. If it has not been taken care of, it will not!
