We don't have anything planned for the holidays or end of the year unfortunately. We should be having a group buy after the new year though if you'd like to wait for the details on that!

Wish you guys made a finish a little lighter than the Anthracite. Silver is too light and Anthracite is too dark for Black paint IMO. Love your designs weight and quality though, keep up the good work.

Thank you for your feedback. We think Anthracite is a great look on a black car.

Not sure if this applies to EC7s...But for ARC-8s, any comments on running 18x8.5 +38 vs 18x8.5 +45 up front?

I've noticed both setups for the front are common, but which would you recommend APEX? (Assuming 225/40/18 tire upfront)

The 18x8.5" ET45 for both the EC-7 and ARC-8 is the 1-series specific wheel fitment, while the 18x8.5" ET38 ARC-8 is a more aggressive fitment reserved for those that are looking for a very flush fitment that can be limiting tire choices due to the limited fender clearance. The 225/40/18 sized street tire can be used for either fitments on the ARC-8, but if you are to use a 235/40/18 tire or wider, the 18x8.5" ET45 would be the better choice.

Hello,

Are you out of the 18x9.5" ET62 APEX ARC-8 Wheel in Hyperblack? Its not listed on your website.

What would be the advantage of running the 18x8.5" ET45 APEX ARC-8 Wheel over those?

That is correct, we are currently out of stock on the 18x9.5" ET62 ARC-8's in the Hyper Black finish and on backorder. The advantage of running the 18x8.5" ET45 ARC-8's all around would allow for running a squared setup. The square setup will be beneficial for track use due to its more neutralized feel. It will also allow you to rotate your tires to maximize their life span.

What are your thoughts on running a 17x9 with 255/40 up front on a 1'er? I currently have a pair of your 17x8.5+40 up front, but it's apparent that with the current gen of extreme performance summer tires, that a 9" wide wheel is really needed to take advantage of a 255.
With my setup, I have just a few mm between the tire and strut, but I would really like to find a way to get a 9" wide wheel up front. Currently at a moderate ride height and -2.5* camber...

We have only been able to test and confirm the fitment of the 17x8.5" ET40 on the front of a 1-series. The 17x9" ET42 will extend an additional 4mm on the fender side, but will take up an additional 8mm of clearance on the strut side. Because the 17x8.5" ET40 is already very aggressive on the fender side, you would need a lot of camber to make it fit on the fender side. As far as the strut side goes, we do not think there is enough for an additional 8mm of wheel to be squeezed into there, meaning you'd need a spacer to clear the struts. With both of these issues, you would be at the very least equivalent to running a 4mm spacer from where you currently are if there is actually enough room on the strut side, but that is unlikely with a 255/40/17 tire, especially since you had mentioned you only had a few millimeters of clearance between strut and wheels/tires currently.

Thanks for your insights.

A friend of mine has a 2002 Chevy Camaro which come with high offset 17x9 wheels (ET50 IIRC), and a bolt pattern of 5x4.75". My plan is to do some mock ups with his wheels and various spacer sizes until I find the correct approx ET to clear the strut (inside clearance). From there, it would be a measure of deciding how much camber is necessary to clear the fender (outside clearance). By my rough math, a 17x9 ET 35ish ought to clear the inside, just need to see how much work it's going to take on the fender side.

In regards to tire size, perhaps my thinking is completely off base here, but wouldn't the 9" wide wheel stretch the 255 just that little bit more than the 8.5" and give additional tire clearance? Not wheel clearance, but tire clearance. With the 17" wheel, the tire is more likely to contact the base of the strut than the wheel, just due to the packing of it all. Conversely, an 18" wheel should offer just a tick more clearance room to play with because you're trading tire height for wheel height, and the base of the strut sits around the barrel of the 18" wheel, versus the side of the tire on a similarly sized 17" wheel.

Or perhaps I should just suck it up and learn how to drive better.

Hey. Just got my EC-7's today and I'm loving the look. I got the fronts on today and can't wait to get the rears on tomorrow.

I got the staggered fit 18x8.5 ET45 front and 18x9.5 ET58 rear wheels. I tried to save some cash by going with the Bridgestone S-04 tires in 235/40 front and 255/35 rear instead of going with the 1addicts standard PSS tires. It appears that the S-04's have a pretty aggressive rim protector.

The fronts don't sound like they are rubbing, but they sure are close to the struts. What size spacer do I need to run up front?

I'll post up some good pics and a more comprehensive review when the rear wheels are on. So far so good.

That is very close, seems like the S-04's are similar to the Michelin PSS. It does look like there is a millimeter or two of clearance (can't tell exactly how much from the angle of the photo), which is just enough to not rub. A spacer would not be required on the front especially fi you are not experiencing any rubbing as it is. However, a 3-5mm spacer can be used if you would like to gain a little more clearance from the strut, which some 1-series have done for a peace of mind.

Thanks for your order Ryan! We'd love to see some pictures of them on the car once they're all mounted up.

Hello Apex guys,

I live in Belgium and I own a E87 130i hatchback like this one above.
I really like to know if these wheels fit plug and play without spacers and/or fender modifications.
My car has the M3 control arms, so I do have a little bit more negative Camber, between 1 and 1,5 degrees.

A square setup with 235/40R18 wheels seems very nice IMHO on a hatchback?

Where can I order those lovely wheels shipped to Belgium.

Kind regards from Belgium to everyone!!!

This car is actually using our 18x8.5" ET45 and 18x9.5" ET58 EC-7's that were designed specifically for the 1-series, with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 Michelin PS3 tires. You can surely fit the 18x8.5" ET45 squared on the 130i with 235/40/18 sized street tires all around without any issues. We ship internationally, so we can definitely ship to Belgium. Let us know which finish you're after, and we can provide you a full quote.
