I talked to my body guy and he confirmed that it is a PITA to remove without breaking it. But with some finesse he was able to remove a stock bumper skin and only broke a one on each side

The front bumper is not hard to remove. The M-Tech bumper goes on the car easily. It takes a little time to figure out how to put the new fog lights on the M bumper (still not a big deal). The difficult part is figuring out how to adapt the electrical connector from the original foglights to the M ones. Once you know how to do this, the install would go more quickly. The other problem is that the stock plastic undercarriage does not simply bolt onto the new bumper. The M- bumper is of a different shape--it protrudes downward more (toward the ground). The M Aero kit comes with extra plastic pieces that bolt onto the original undercarriage. Just figure that out, and the rest is easy. So how long does it take to install? Probably an hour or less if you know what you're doing. I needed the time to figure out what went where, how to remove the bumper from the headlight washer system on a hot midday afternoon, and the above, all of which took me 3 friggin hours.

EDIT: One more thing, you'll have to drill new holes into the stock plastic undercarriage. This is where you will insert the pushtab fasteners.

No wonder!!!!!!!! I had my kit installed at a body shop and they totally screwed up on the front bumper. Now I see why!! Wish I had seen this post before. They did not install whatever piece is needed in the undercarriage, so the bottom of my bumper is ondulated, and looks shitty! And when i went to pick up the old parts, found out they did not use all the parts that came with the kit. Like the splitters (is that what they're called, the black pieces on the bottoms sides of the front?), which are still in the plastic bags they came in. Look at the first 2 pictures of this thread, and you should be able to see what I am talking about: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49931

I hope ksfrogman might have some pictures of the piece that has to be bolted onto the undercarriage, so I can locate it. I will have to open the box that I so carefully wrapped with shrink wrap today with all the pieces not used and the old bumpers, etc.

Could I fix it myself? I wonder...

I'll try to dig up some old photos. If they are inadequate, i could always take some photos when time permits.

Here is an old photo. I had the bottom portion put on by a body shop, but if you look closely, even they didn't quite install the flap the right way. This is why you see the undulating black flange. That flange should actually tuck under the new M-bumper. This was an easy thing to change.
