The VIN Question.. again
I have spent a couple of hours ploughing through old post re VINs, the reason being I have confirmed today our car is due at the dealer 17 September (Canberra). Therefore it is safe to say it should doc in Port K ~7 September but I can not track it on http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/searchCargo.do and it dosn't exist.
I can only assume I have made a mistake with my VIN: WBAUC72060VF18988 I am not sure whether the RED numbers are correct. Can anyone help? Cheers |

Those are check sum numbers so if you plug in the rest of the numbers you will get the correct numbers...But I have not seen a check sum calc here. Maybe someone knows?

The Tosca is already tracking two days late, let's hope the wind and tide turns in her favour. After now waiting over two months, two day extra just seems unnecessary....

Hey AlpineM3E92 ... I'm planning to check out the Tosca when she arrives in Port Kembla (I live nearby). Keep an eye on the following thread for some photos ...

IF you go to
www.fremantleports.com.au/Webcam.asp on the day your boat is in Fremantle and pick Cam7 you should see a hulking big red and white Wallenius Wilhelmsen unloading its WA cargo. These carriers generally pull up at berth 11 or 12 - right in front of Cam 7. From where I'm sitting at home in front of my laptop I have a sweeping view from Rottnest Island north and I often see these huge car-carriers on the horizon. I'll keep an eye open on 5 Sept 08 and if I see the TOSCA I'll post.

Actually - how's this for an obsessive disorder. A mate of mine is a ship's pilot - he brought my boat into Freo and I was down at the WA Maritime Museum as she sailed into port. My buddy was on the bridge as they unloaded and rang me to tell me when the BMWs were coming off!!!
A bit of ship trivia...these WWL car carriers burn between 60 and 100 TONNES of diesel a day. Apparently once out in the open ocean they burn a cheap low grade diesel that costs about 50cpl. Furthermore...if the wind speed exceeds 33 knots they won't bring the ship into port as they are very difficult to control.

My 135i was also my 5th new BM since 1999 - but the other 4 were bought "off the rack" so the 135i was the first one I had to wait for! Damn near killed me.
Having said that and having done the BMW Advanced training II with the M3 in June I am waiting to see the M3 Sedan when it arrives in December.

Thanks amk, the research I've done indicates that the Tosca is green and white though . I'll keep an eye on the webpage too.
I had webcam baby photo's of my Falcon XR6T on the production line 5 years and was a little disappointed that BMW don't do this too. Oh well, can't have it all!
