Why the Nürburgring camera ban might be 'relaxed'

I sure hope so, especially since this might be the last tourist season before new ownership...

Lets not forget this RUF yellow bird was teh first production car with: super low profile tires of 17's inches, 450 HP (& 2400lbs!!) and the first car with a production MT6! Boy how times have changed!

Faszination at the Nurburgring CTR RUF
Absolutely love that video. The Yellow Bird is amazing and a death trap in its own right. Gotta love them running with zero safety gear on that vid! lol

amazing video and it really shows how restrictive but much more composed our modern cars are comparatively...I'd love to have driving instructions with this guy...

What's car friday?

Excuse my ignorance.

- How the technology has changed (tires especially). I bet a 1M can turn a lap time as fast as the Ruf could back in the day. This driver is really hamming it up for the camera kicking out the tail at every opportunity with a simple flick of the wheel and a healthy application of throttle.

Car Friday is for car enthusiasts what Good Firday is for people that believe in God. It is one of the most packed non event days ever. Just google or youtube carfriday and you will see. Better yet...........Here you go. This is some of the antics from last year.

Literally the first day of "open season"

The driver of that Ruf ("yellow bird") was nicknamed: "sideways Stefan". Supposedly bc he could drive that 911 turbo so sideways he had more dead bugs on his doors than the windshield!! Also... he could only do about four laps of the 'Ring driving sideways like that before one of the rear tires would blow out. And I mean BLOW OUT! I remember reading this UK car mag where they talked about just such an event. Two lucky readers won a ride in it. As I remember one of the passengers got sick afterwards too.

See story bellow...

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthre...407501&page=92

The info I found on the video:
"The RUF video is awesome. I had it on VHS about 8 years ago. It was a RUF promotional video called "Fascination on the Nurburgring" Stefan Roser aka "Sideways Stefan" is an amazing driver.

I was reading one of my british car mags before I got the video (where I found out about it) and they had a contest and two lucky winners got to ride in that very car with him around the Ring. Needless to say they were scared. IIRC on the second lap taking one of the winners around, he had a blowout on the rear tire at about 130mph, which completely destroyed the rear fender and body work. The passanger said it didn't even phase Stefan, he just calmly brought the car to rest on the side of the track."

And again, if RUF is not premium in GT5, I will be a sad panda!

Btw... I know this weekend's VLN race was canceled due to this weeks(Tuesday's) snow fall at the Ring.

On easter-friday? Yes, at least according to the current official schedule. Thats what makes it so "special", for many that is the start of the season. Track will be quite full, hence I am considering getting my photo-gear to a nice spot (Adenauer Forst i.e.) and spend a few hours there bursting away pictures.

^^Yup. IF I went to Car Friday... it would be only to watch ppl get sideways, or go crop dusting in Brunchen.

How about we plan on a little meet once the Tourist Drives start back up? Maybe when it gets a little bit warmer in a few more weeks.

Furlough is postponed 2 weeks so I doubt we'll be on unpaid leave by then. I will be off work though, so if I don't have to pick up my repaired wheel in Kaiserslautern I'll swing by the 'Ring for this.

Originally I pasted all the dates the ring would be open in 2013 but that was pages long so here is an PDF that we can save to our smartphones and iPads etc... all 2013 dates for easy reference.
