LUX Angel Eyes installed

Althogh there were some discussion in the other thread but there were no thread posted for LUX Angel Eyes yet so I will post a new thread.

I bought them online from luxangeleyes.com

It was a simple install.
Open the back cover of the each head light releasing the metal bar to the direction as shown in the red arrow. Disconnect the OEM H8 bulb and change to LUX.

Left side in the picture is OEM, right side is LUX. The color with the eyebrow is perfect.

LUX is enormously bright.

Please note that our 1M head light has fiber optics to the outer ring in 90 degrees angle. So, some LEDs which points to 180 degree angle might not work perfectly.

Thank you, great post! Is the outside ring still pretty bright like the new led angel eyes in the 5 series?

I am not sure about the MTEC's. Are those LED?

As far as I have searched, I could not find the product which can be seen in the daylight except for the LUX.

Here are some pictures in the daylight in the other thread.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8815982

Due to the design of the headlight of 1M, inner ring is brighter than the outer ring. The ring in the new 5 series is much brighter and both ring is in same brightness. I think they have a LED in each ring.

Would you say the outer ring is brighter than all the other bulbs in the market, especially in day light? The MTEC outer ring does not look that bright in day time.

Your pic showing the FO points makes me want to run out and double check the orientation on my WeissLicht bulbs

Sure enough, the WeissLicht bulbs I have are positioned at 180 degrees

I wonder if this is the only WeissLicht design available or did I get an older version?

@ KIYO, where did you stash the resistor/power brick? Mine keeps getting in the way of the Adaptive headlights

The outer ring is kind of dim in the day light with the OEM so I can not expect them to be bright.

It was raining and cloudy around me all the time but today it is sunny, I will try to take some pics in the sun light.

I have no Adaptive lights so I just put the controller block under the main light. I am afraid that they might rattle.

But is the outer ring as bright as the OEM outer ring in the sunlight/daytime?

I noticed that the install guides available on the LUX website are for the following vehicles:

LUX H8 Install Guide - E92
LUX H8 Install Guide - E90 LCI
LUX H8 X5

When using one of these guides on the 1M, I assume the E92 guide is suitable?

Here's my installation video for the 2012 E82's.

It will NEVER happen, as I have mentioned in previous posts the 1er Angel eyes use a forced lighting technique that is not suited to white light, so unless LUX can alter physics it's impossible for them to be as bright (or brighter) than OEM and/or the new 3er. The new 3er uses a different setup which means the light isn't forced through lots of tubing. The 3er Angel eyes are directional LED rings, not LED light forced through rings.

The reson why it will never work on a 1er is because white does not stand out due its colour refraction and the colours of the spectrum that form it. White blends in because it is not picked out by our eyesight. The yellow stands out more as our eyesight is 'tuned' to look for brighter light. Do you ever see white in a rainbow? No? Its there, but your eyesight ignores it.

I know I get flamed and disagreed with, but there isn't a bulb for the 1er on the planet (without going for bulbs that will damage the clusters within weeks) that can replicate the new 3er or produce a bright light in daytime sun. LED bulbs in a 1er will be marginally brighter than gassed, but for me these LUX bulbs do not have a significant difference over a white gas charged bulb to warrant a $245 price tag, when a white gas charged bulb costs just $25.

Each to their own though.

OP Glad your happy with the LUX

the inner and outer ring will never be the same brightness due to the design of the headlight itself. LUX does work to equalize the brightness between the rings by directing the LED's in certain directions and by utilizing the built in reflector

Right - will the doubters now believe me when I say a $245 (£200) pair of bulbs offer NO significant benefit over a pair that cost $20-$25 (£15-£20)...?!?

Seeing them in picture and in person is totally different. Photos do not do justice. If you check out the E90, E92, M3 section, the majority run on LUX.
