N54, downpipes and downpipe fix, now service light...
Hey guys,
Let me start by saying I did research this (so lets not freak out), and although I came up with some info, nothing as helped solve the issue. Car info: I have a 2008 135i, and just install the VRSF 3" downpipes and downpipe fix (installed via the Burger Motorsports installation guide), and I'm getting intermittent codes for P2098 (bank 2 post cat lean), P2096 (bank 1 post cat lean), and P0041 (Post cat O2 sensors swapped). Car seems to run, drive, and idle great. Issue frequency: I installed the downpipes and downpipe fix and ran the car for about 150 miles without issue, and now just stated getting issues. First time it happened I just cleared the codes and ran the car another 80+ miles without issue. Now it seems to throwing these codes about every 10 to 30 miles now. Corrective actions: Seeing as I keep getting the post cat o2 sensors swapped code I decided to swap them (even though I had them correct: black bank 1, grey bank 2). I still get the same 3 codes even after the swap. Suggestions? Any suggestions on what to try next? I was thinking of swapping the o2's back to the correct spots (black front, grey rear), and then try and remove the downpipe fix so see if its that.... Is it possible I just don't have the downpipe fix adjusted right, even though it drove fine for 150+ miles after the install? Thanks for any help! |

From my understanding JB4 has auto clear, but it wont allow you to pass smog / emission test (witch is why I bought the DP fix), |

Interesting, I would have expected a too rich code after removing that part which shall not be named. If you have an adjustable fix, and are getting codes for too lean, can you lighten up on the adjustment some?

Yes, I can adjust the DP fix, but I guess I'm just confused about why I'm still getting post cat o2 sensors swapped codes. That said maybe I should just adjust the DP fix, and see if it takes care of all 3 codes...

I would try to adjust it and play around with it. If your first 150 miles or so didn't cause codes then you will probably be able to adjust so it won't cause codes. If not, then I guess you will just have an even better excuse to get a tune

Update:
Well after adjusting the DPF for almost a month, I kept getting o2 signals swapped (even though they aren't, and swapping them anyways gave the same code) and codes for o2 signal stuck. It also has been shuttering / miss firing at lower rpm with partial throttle (never got a code for misfire). So, I just removed the DPF and the codes have not appeared other than catalyst inefficient codes, and the car is running much better. |

Think wedge sells a dp fix as well. You only need to have it installed if for smog, otherwise, virtually amy tune will take care of the dp codes for you.

I just installed the dpfix in December with no issues. Then after about a month it got cold and I am starting to throw the same codes as you. I'm thinking about uninstalling also.
