Vented carbon fiber hood

Looking for a high-quality vented carbon fiber hood for my car, primarily to reduce underhood temps.

Really like the Vorsteiner, but it's no longer in stock. The size and placement of the vents on the Seibon hood are marginal, so I'm looking for better alternatives.

Any recommendations/leads would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Revozport makes one that looks good. But it vents from the front of the engine bay.

Maybe not the perfect logistics for you, but quite some cf hood options to compare.

I would say the Revo or buy the Slek and add vents. You could always remove the cowl and add the twin cabin filters. I used to pull mine off at the track on my old 135 and it helped vent hot air.

Would be interested in what you decide as I too am contemplating a CF hood

You could also cut and add vents on the oem hood.

Not sure what you mean by marginal. The vents do a good job of venting heat on my car, you can see the hot air venting out when at a stop light an I have seen the difference in heating up and cooling down the engine. And they also do a good job of directing water away from the core of the engine. Now fitment I would say is definitely marginal.

My temps were all good for the One Lap, but track sessions were brief and I want to do all I can to manage heat for those 30 minute, 90 degree days at VIR.

Pulling the cowl or raising the hood toward the windshield doesn't do much 'cause that's a high pressure area. That's why the vents for the HVAC system are located there. Ideally, the vents would be in the middle, or slightly toward the front end of the hood -- which are the lowest pressure areas and best for heat evacuation.

I may end up putting vents in the stock hood since I want a hood that fits properly and prefer the stock latching system.

Thanks.

I ran cowls off sometimes and used Motul 300v oil on a tuned N54 in FL. Oil temps were NEVER out of control. I doubt small vents on a hood really make much difference anyhow, maybe helps if you have a DCI.

Maybe think about going hoodless, hillbilly style

I'm now pushing more than 500 whp and regularly flog my car on track.

I also run 300V and have a 32 row Setrab-based oil cooler and a Helix intercooler. I also have a heatshield for the air filter feeding my Motive 750 single turbo.

I bought a used Seibon cf hood a while ago, but the vents are small and not optimally located.

N54s run hot and heat management is key to ensuring the reliability and longevity of any big hp car that spends a lot of time on track. If I go ahead and do something, I intend to for it to result in a significant drop in my underhood temps.

Yup, these motors do run hot, forgot you had upgraded to a single snail. Maybe running an e30 map and or just backing down the power for the track. Please post what you end up doing, thinking custom vents on a CF hood.
