catless downpipes= drone and same hp?

I installed vsrf catless downpipes tonight and the drone, (almost a loud vibration ) before boost hits is horrible. To make matters worse, my butt dyno, (i know super accurate ) says there is no hp gained. Is this normal on the 1M? I might just switch them back.

The 1M has high flow cats to begin with, so the gains will be minimal.

depending on what other upgrades you did to the car you should be on a more aggressive map with down pipes. I am using MHD and just installed downpipes and I needed a stage 2 aggressive tune. pulls hard! with my magnaflow catback I have no drone.

Believe it or not, the tune can have a huge effect on drone.

you'll want resonated or stock mids or you'll get drone with downpipes

Well, everything is fine. Nothing touching. Drone is coming from the axle back. 1800 to 2500 rpm, just as boost starts to build. I think the stock muffler is restricted , and that momentary back pressure is the culprit

I had the same experience:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1027547

Only solution: get a resonated midpipe.

You must flash stage 2 for the car to take advantage of the downpipes

get the car mapped to suit. They are a great mod but when i re flash my car before going back to bmw the car sounds and performs nowhere near a nice as stock.
With a custom map the mods you have will be worth it!

Catless DP will get you minimal gains if the car is not tuned for it.

You will see gains of around 15 bhp without a tune, I've carried out dyno comparison. The car will also run fine without a tune and decatted pipes, with afr values almost identical across the rev range.

If you get a tune (like everyone is suggesting) you will benefit greatly from it in regards to more bhp.

15 HP sounds like a lot from just catless with no tune
Do you have that dyno graph?

No, the increase (as shown in first run) came after adding catless dp. The stock on my car with full cats was 342bhp. I have that dyno somewhere so il find it and post it soon.
