Tire/Wheel Warranty is a rip off
Paid for the extra tire/wheel warranty. My 3rd brake light cracked and I had to drive into BMW to have it fixed. On my way there hit a huge pothole.....and my TPM went off on the spot. Ended up blowing my tire and bending my rim. BMW told me the tire is covered, but I would have to pay for the rim since safeguard denied the claim. They then made me call safeguard to deal with them myself. Safeguard told me per contract the new tire is still able to seal with the rim, which means they wont cover it. Wheel package is a waste of money. Well car is still driveable....at least now I have an excuse to buy some aftermarket rims....

I'm not sure how much you paid for the tire/wheel warranty, but IMO, I think it's well worth it. After only a couple tire claims, it should already have paid itself off. As for the bent wheel, that's correct, the only way they'll cover the wheel is if it leaks air. Maybe tell them later that it has a slow leak, they may cover it.

Worth it for me
I paid $600 for the tire/rim warranty. Since then I have blistered 5 runflats on my 335i Coupe (Sport package). I have nearly exhausted my $2000 maximum benefit. Bummer about the rim. Over the life of your policy, you may find that it was worth it.

We paid about $35 for a one year policy. About 3 months after we got the car we found a nail in a tire. The insurance company paid for a new tire without question and then refused to renew the policy.

You know that is funny. I have the wheel/tire warranty and I hit a large pothole that only bent my wheel. I was told by the SA and then shown on a piece of paper, that I never received when I purchased the warranty, that an exclusion from coverage exists when:
"The need to repair or replace a wheel when there is NO covered repair or replacement of the tire mounted on that wheel." So basically, they denied my claim because I didn't damage the tire and wheel at the same time. BTW, mine is through Fidelity Warranty Services. Whose is yours through OP? |

i got bit by the OP's issue with my M3. They only cover it under warranty and replace the rim IF the tire cant hold air.
I WISH i knew this beforehand.. Just keep that in mind folks.

so a friend of mine w/ an X5 told me a guy at his dealer basically saidyou could pop holesin ur tires and they would replace them since under warranty... more or less you'd never actually have to pay for new tires. Scamming the system, yes. do we get screwed by the dealership, usually. I don't have the warranty and am getting rid of the RFT, but just something i heard.
