1Addicts tour the Italian Alps: Sella 1.0 tour...
Dackel goes Dolomites in 2014...
Well... for the last few years, every summer - some of us Euro 1Addicts have met for an awesome driving tour experience. One that we will never forget! The last two years - we have met and driven the infamous Stelvio Pass. You can see our past Stelvio 1.0 and Stelvio 2.0 tours under my signature. But for this year, we all wanted to try something different. Enter Sella 1.0 First off, I want to say I could have not pulled off this tour with the help of my other Euro 1Addicts buddies: Aremis, Swadness, Mr Kleen, and gs/e60/1m? We each had something to offer up in the planning stages of this trip. In the end some of our team could not make the trip, that made it all the more bitter sweet. The basic plan was that all of us would meet up at a central location in Italy and drive in convoy(style) to our hotel in the Sella Dolomites. We chose to meet up in Vipiteno, Italy and then continue to our hotel: Hotel Kolfuschgerhof in Corvara in Badia, Italy. But some of us can't get enough of a good thing... and since a few guys were driving down from Belgium and the Netherlands... some of us decided to meet a few days earlier in Kaiserslautern(otherwise known to American's as K-Town!). Five of us met in K-town and then had one heck of a nice drive thru the Black Forest(the Deutsche Hoch Alpinestrasse, then thru Switzerland and then over thru Austria and down into Italy. It would be a GREAT trip! To be honest I lost count of all the mountain passes we drove thru. All I know is we had a GREAT adventure. I am sure Luc aka @Artemis will post all the mountain passes we drove. We all had a blast driving the best roads Europe has to offer. Some of the guys jokingly refer to me as: "Dackel Tours AG". I am already thinking how I am gonna top this year's tour! But, I already have some ideas on where to travel too. And over the winter and spring I will have to do some "hard" research, finding just the right place for us Euro 1Addicts for next year's tour. Another nice thing is that while most of us drive a 1er... we did not limit our group to only 1er's. Anyone with a BMW was invited to come join us. We even had a 335i, a 428i vert and a Z4M join us. Only thing we required was a good attitude and a friendly driving style. Maps of the 'Sella 1.0' weekend in the Dolomites - Italy:
It all started in K-town... But before I could get to K-town I got stuck in a morning stau. :/ I did manage to spot this werkstestwagen... Always nice to drive past Hockenheim Ring... Many guys will recognize this bridge on the A6 just before K-town... my Ausfahrt coming up! driving on the famous B48 South to the Black Forrest... some very yummy cakes at the Mummelsee Hotel... One of us took one for the team(leading the pack!)... 91 kph in a 70 kph! 30 Euros Bitte! Right on the spot!! Cash or EC card bitte? our final destination for day one. A small, nice hotel in the Black Forrest... our hotel for the night, in the Black Forrest... www.muehle.de/ onto some sweet Swiss mountain passes!! Furka Pass Lunch stop at the "Grand Hotel Glacier du Rhone" in Gletsch, Switzerland We would be headed up that awesome pass!! cobble stones!! We met this nice guy on his ED with his brand new Cayman GTS, 7 speed manual. It was funny bc he was lusting after "our guys" with the 1M's. As @Swadeness like's to say... "driving like the way we do" can be tough to keep up. yup... that cow shit... atleast it wasn't on those cobble stones! heading now to Austria for the night...

... Lake Lucerne, Switzerland Swiss goodies... 39 CHF = $42 per LITER!!! Don't forget to buy an Austrian Vignette - BEFORE entering Austria!! Instead of 8 euros for the Vignette you could end up paying 120 euro fine for not having one!! Pfunds/Nauders exit on the Austrian Autobahn... Post Hotel in Pfunds, Austria... a 1Addicts favorite for only 58 euros per night!! http://www.post-pfunds.at/posthotel-...illkommen.html Friday's drive... = FUN! a quick stop in Imst for fuel and a car wash pay at the pump... this isn't allowed in Germany! lol Salzburg bier(middle cans)... Free LEGO's with a purchase of >30 liters from Shell. Toll plaza... WHAT a road!!! Ok, this pic isn't mine... but I thought it reflected our driving style going thru the Italian tunnels! A nice lunch in Vipiteno, Italy. Right next door to another Shell gas station

Sunday/Monday's trip back home for me...
So on Sunday I did not want to brave the mega traffic back North into Germany... so I decided to head West. I really had no destination in mind. But I saw how close I was to Stelvio(~100kms) from Vipiteno, so I decided to head to Francesca's Post Hotel in Trafio, BZ - located at the base of Stelvio.
Btw... her brother Victor owns the Hotel at the top of Stelvio(Bormio) if anyone wants to visit. I highly recommend either hotel. You won't be disappointed. After spending the night at Francesca's Post Hotel, I decided to drive up the "mountain" and say hello to Victor... then head back home to der Fatherland. I even made a nice GoProp video of the up and down runs. Going up Stelvio was quite nice until I got stuck behind two tour vans. I was SHOCKED to see the car's coming down the Pass to be covered entirely with a good coating of snow! The weather was chilly(~12' C) at 1K meters... but up at the top at 2,800meters it was only 2'C!!! And that was at noon! After having a nice talk(and cappuccino) with Victor... I headed back down the mountain. Direction Nauders and Pfunds, Austria and then thru Innsbruck and up to Wattens and Meisbach. Dackel Our hotel in Sella... kolfuschgerhof.com leaving the Sella region... This is what the farm barns look like over here. Cows or Pigs mostly. This one obviously, holds cows. another old fortress. This local road runs under and parallel to the Brenner(Breno) A22 Autostrada Reschen Pass and the Resia Pass... The view of Stelvio Pass from Francesca's parking lot! Francesca's Post Hotel in Trafoi, BZ - at the base of Stelvio Pass WHAT a road! And each one of those hairpin turns are first gear turns. Snow in August!! 2760m = 9055 feet!!! saw these guys taking a pic... so I decided to take one of them too! lol Richard's Grill - a legend at Stelvio... Francesca's brother Victor's Hotel located at the top of Stelvio Pass(Bormio)... some videos going up Passo Stelvio... and going down - direction North to Trafoi ... part one... part two... an old WWI fortress in just before Trafoi, BZ (Italy) bicycles! WWI artillery strong hold... Festung Nauders = Fortress Nauders on the Reich Pass. The Austrians are spending big bucks to move the highway around this historic landmark! I hope they don't ruin this fortress. It was very cool to visit it on our Stelvio 2.0 tour. Wattens, Austria home to Swarovski crystals... Swarovski crystal world I always wanted to take a picture of my car in front of this landscape on the Swarovski grounds (parking lot). GE factory building in Wiesing, Austria - heading up North direction Achensee, Austria on my way to Café Winklstüberl... Achensee... The Austrian/German border control. Now, no controls/restrictions for the EU. Café Winklstüberl Leitzachtalstraße 68 83730 Fischbachau (Germany) Café Winklstüberl an EXCELLENT place to eat or stay the night! You can not go wrong here! Plus this place is a stone's throw from the famous Tatzelwurmstraße in Oberaudorf. The Tatzelwurmstraße is Germany's version of the Tail of the Dragon! Not to be missed on a ED trip! So many yummy cakes!! Their cakes are sooo good that many people from Munich will drive down to take a "cake to go"!!

Nice. I'm going to use your maps for a family trip. Do you happen to have the exact route you took from K-town on down? Thanks for sharing!
