Local shops can do it for a few hundred less, but the work won't be warranted by BMW of course. And an alignment is not necessary if installed right.

Honestly, any good local shop familiar with Euro's wouldn't do anything different that BMW would do. Suspension isn't very difficult to install, however you should always get an alignment afterward. It really comes down to if you're willing to pay an extra few hundred for the piece of mind knowing your dealership did the work.

We charge 5 hours plus alignment. It is less for sport package / m package cars because there is no rear swaybar install. Installing a rear swaybar per BMW requires a rear subframe drop to fit, which is why labor is doubled

how is it that bmw doesn't warranty the work? dont we have legislation saying that we don't have to bring our vehicles to the delearship to get work done, as long as they are certified.

If the genuine bmw parts are installed by the dealership, the parts will become apart of the 4 year warranty (BMW Performance only). If the parts are installed elsewhere, the parts will receive the 2 yr/unlimited mile parts warranty.
There are two differences between the factory warranty and the parts warranty. Factory warranty covers everything including parts that have been affected by the BMW Performance parts installed. Parts warranty covers the actual BMW Performance parts that were installed, not other affected parts.

No - all 135i have the sport suspension. The BMW Performance Suspension is available through BMW or is an upgrade that can be ordered with the car and installed at the vehicle processing center. It is way cheaper to install at the VPC - but can add a big delay sometimes to the delviery time according to several posts in other other threads.
The Performance Suspension drops the car about 1/2 inch and is 34% stiffer than the stock the sport suspension. |

Shouldn't it say "(for vehicles w/sports suspension)" because all 135's have the sport suspension even if they don't have the "Sports" or "M-package". $1250 should only apply to 128's without Sport or M-package (no sport suspension). |
