HiFi?
The guys in the US forum are stating that the stock stereo is pretty average at best. Looking through their spec, it looks like they are getting the aussie "hifi upgrade" as standard. I was wondering if anyone can confirm this? If so, i think i might upgrade to the professional sound...

They have the Professional head unit as standard but standard speakers. Our Professional system has the "Logic 7" amp and sound processor and upgraded spec speakers but in a non nav Aussie car the head unit will look the same as the US model.

sorry to be slow on the uptake here, but i am still unclear between the difference between our hi-fi and hi-fi professional systems compared to the base.
the brochure seems to suggest that the professional system adds the ability to mimic certain acoustic properties of different environments. it says nothing about it being logic7 or not. can someone please explain this to me in simple language? |

I consider myself fairly picky when it comes to audio and for a base system I was very impressed... I opted for the premium HiFi on my ordered car but I do second guess that decision frequently...

vivid, the problem for me is in understanding what is the "standard system" for us here since we have two optional premium sound systems both with 10 speakers. the base one for us probably has 8 speakers...i just don't know.
it seems, however, that the level one premium system here is the base one you guys have or the base one we have in the 335, whereas the level two "professional" system here is what you guys are calling premium and what unofficial BMW reviews are calling logic7. as far as i can see the BMW literature officially calls something logic7 when it has 13 speakers on it. i am, therefore, completely confused as to what to order given that i want a very nice sound system. my music tastes are inclined towards classical music and i am therefore very picky about the quality of the sound the speakers in my car should produce without knowing any of the technical stuff! |

trust me, we in the US have that very same problem in telling what each system is... There is very little information out there and the US seems to be the only country that uses this ordering system
This is what I think is going on... the std HiFi is the logic 7 system but can not be called L7 because it does not have the center channel so technically it can't be L7... Then the premium HiFi is the top of the line HiFi... main points of difference... 1. 300watts of power vs 18owatts of power 2. improved speakers (metal cones) 3. DSP processing Both systems have the same amount of speakers, in the same locations... I have only heard the std HiFi and as I said before I was impressed with it once I adjusted the settings...

thanks for the info. it seems to me that while the professional hi fi certainly has more grunt and features the standard one (our hi fi 10 loudspeakers) seems to be more than adequate for most kinds of listening.

Not sure where I read it, but it is possible that the base as a 1 line display, while the upgrades have a 2 line display. I can definitely be wrong on that count though. |

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=28 On the standard stereo system, it has a single line screen that scrolls. I think the HiFi systems have 2 scrolling lines instead of 1, but like I said, I can definitely be wrong. I have not seen it in operation... |

thanks dodgey, i see that those lines are perhaps for the blokes not getting iDrive.
anyway, the plot thickens and the mystery continues. according to the link you sent the hi-fi pro would have a minimum of 11 speakers (10 plus an "additional centre loudspeaker") yet the options list says 10.:iono: |

Yeah, but I don't think the 135 get the central loudspeaker, only 10 speakers.
