Did the same to me- drivers side wasn't bad because of the access, but still took two tries to get everything arranged to my satisfaction.

The passenger side... grrrrrr.... took a few tries to get it right, and I'm not a small guy at 6'2" & 260lbs so getting my big ass hands down in there sucked. In the end I was really happy with how it went back together.

Couple of days, no errors. Run through a car wash and had passenger side error. Turned off the lights right away to save em, and pulled the bumper off and headlight out to correct everything...

Install - yay, happy happy

Good idea. Mine's been bugging me, but not enough to do anything about it yet.
Looks great!

So I did something that I think will make some of you cringe, but I added a trailer hitch to my 128 vert today. Why? I had no way to carry my bike to some of the local trails. Now I'm good to go since I already had a hitch mounted bike rack. Bit of a painful job, but thanks to this link, http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223191, I was able to complete the install. The provided instructions where a bit useless in regard to removing the cover. I didn't realize I had to remove the tail lights to release some clips for the bumper....

here is the bumper cover off of the car and the hitch installed....

close up of the hitch, it mounts over the existing impact bar bolts...

and buttoned back up. Need to wash this beast after a trip to the coast.

Trailer hitch was an option on all E82/88's in Europe, only except for the 135i! Congrats on becoming a bit more German.

Could also come in handy should the need arise to take the car to a shop.
I've also seen tires ride back there for trips to the track...
I think I'd ride more if I had done the same, but hard to justify when the wife's car is an SUV with a hitch.

Doesn't look like you wired in a plug in case you ever want to pull a small trailer?

Is no one going to point out the jack supporting the car while he was likely under it? Idiot move.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, should have had a jack stand, but I was never technically under the car....

I may put a powered connector in at some point. No need for it right now.

Ordered from etrailer, cost was $104 and free shipping. As mentioned the provided instructions are a bit lacking. Using the forum link above was a huge help. Took a little over 2 hours to install.

Yesterday I evened out the alignment on my car, 0 toe front and back, 1/2" neg. camber up front and 1" neg. camber out back. Also increased the damping on the Koni's in the rear (too much), now it rides a bit race car-ish.

The car is absolutely flawless, except for one, very annoying thing... a noise from the rear. Changed diff fluid, tried wiggling wheels, spun the wheels, nothing. I'm completely dumbfounded by it. I guess I'll get the wheels balanced, as I have taken it to the track multiple times, and the wheel weights tend to migrate when there's a lot of heat.

Also test-fitted the OE wheels over my soon-to-be-installed F30 335i grey Brembos, just a 5mm spacer is all it needs to clear the outside piston cluster from the spokes.

Were the OE wheels 17" and if so what style?

Good job on that install, that?s a great idea for people that track theirs and want to pull a small Harbor Freight trailer with a set of track wheels and some tools

They are 17" Style 256's. They'll be the holders of snow tires after my final track day in early November. THEY WEIGH A TON!

Thanks. Just trying to learn what brakes could fit under my wheels. I'm on Style 262 which are similar. They are certainly heavy.
