Yes. Having applied a bit of my Tetris skills I have fit 4 tires in a 135i vert, and 4 tires, with 4 unmounted wheels in my 135i coupe.

Maybe "unmounted" but not mounted tires. I have this issue every year .. ie. I have my winters mounted on separate wheels.

Actually, I've done it plenty of times with my 17" rims with mounted tires.

That may be true, but when I am doing the winter to summer switch...I need to transport my OEM set.

On the other hand, I can fit 23 clowns inside my car.. go figure.

I fit 18's with wheels and tires in the back with the seat folded down easy peesy. I do recommend getting tire carries from tire rack or somewhere else so you don't get brake dust and grime everywhere.

You can fit 8 tires in the car, but it's uncomfortable.

4 vertically in the rear seat. Seat up.
2 passenger seat, vertical.
2 trunk, horizontal (thinner tires 225/235 range)

If you're hauling a set, I do like using the rear seat with them vertical. I then tie them with rope to the rear deck loops for a baby seat strap so they don't move forward.

This is awesome. I can only imagine the looks you get from other drivers. Especially those with dedicated track cars & trailers. You could probably manage an even dozen if you hang few more from the bumpers like a tug boat.

This must be a contest. How many tires can you fit in a 1er.

4 x tires, 4 x 19" wheels still in their boxes (1 wheel in the trunk). GMOL.

I don't recommend this though, that box on the center console moved a lot and I couldn't see a damn thing to my right (mirror or windows). Luckily I didn't have to drive far like this.

The more comfortable / easy to load/unload way:

1. Fold seats
2. Put 1 tire in the center of the trunk, laying down
3. Stack 2 tires behind the driver seat, laying down
4. Put 1 tire diagonally on the passenger side, leaning against the 2 tire stack (you'll see how it fits)

This is easier to load/unload than the 4 standing up ones above and also has less chance of the tires mucking up your headliner.

Put tires in Tirerack "tire cozys" or at least a sturdy trash bag...
