Altimeter Question - how do I callibrate it?
I notice my altimeter shows 0 ft high (it should be 10 ft, as my Uniden GPS-based radar detector shows).
Do you know how do I go about callibrating it? Thanks! |

you mean the car says you're at 0ft and you have another GPS that says 10ft? Honestly, unless you have a survey map that says your elevation, there's no good way to tell which one is correct.

well...where is the altimiter on the car, at the very bottom? and you are holding the GPS inside in your hand?...so about 3' from where the cars might be? So off just 7'....see not as bad as you thought

I'm also very worried about the accuracy of my E90s altimeter. I tend to take an emergency backup wherever I go. Here I am towing it. I do have to be very careful in narrow streets however, and finding a parking spot wide enough can be a real problem.
Seriously though, the E90 altitude is read from the nav GPS. GPS is not that accurate. I'd not worry about it. |

Some of those streets are whoppers!!! Alas lecatrache lives elsewhere. Seriously lecatrache, dont concern yourself about a minor issue. Standard GPS systems are accurate to 10 metres anyway so 10 feet is fantastic, actually.

Thanks guys.
I live in Florida, which is very much flat, so it´ll take me a while to take it to any mountain!! (and when I do next December it will probably be in my wife´s Dodge Durango which is more comfortable for our 4 kids!) |
