Stripping the silver paint first is something a proper powdercoating facility should take care of for you. Nate

I think the powdercoating would be nice, and I thought about that to. My color of choice would be what my local PC shop calls 'Black Chrome', though it's more of a really deep metallic gunmetal... looks super trick.

Keep in mind, you all are probably going to want to put a coat of clear over the pc to help with constant uv they'll be dealing with, along with dirt, possible rock chips, etc.

Gloss or satin black would be ok, but NO red stripe IMO.

This looks pretty good.

Actually,

The time attack look is a groove cut in the outside lip of the wheel, that is used to reduce wheel weight.

Then it is filled with a color of choice.

Quote from M6 time attack description:
"The stripe is not just painted on, it is cut in to the lip which shaves off 1 pound on the outer edge of each wheel therefore lowering the rotational mass of the wheels"

This might sound unbelievable but I have read that every pound on your wheel/tire is equal to 20 pounds of weight inside the car.

Thats why I bought Volk RE-30's for my sold Acura TL-S. The 18x8" wheels were 16.5#.:eyebulge:

wheels, tires, brakes...... General rule of thumb is 1 to 4 ratio. For every pound you save its like taking 4 off the car

Damn, a classic combo - red on black!! The only combo that looks better is white on black imho.

Go with all black and make sure you get them PC not painted.

honestly dark gunmetal/hyper black/black chrome is just the best color for a wheel ever, any color, any wheel. i essentially have to pick car colors based on the assumption that i am going to want that color of wheel eventually, because i will. that photoshop of the crimson red 1er's wheel is exactly the color i'm talking about. beautiful.

Are the stock rims forged? If so, you may not want to powdercoat them. Painting would be better. The heat involved with powdercoating can weaken forged rims. But if the rims aren't forged, then have at it.

I agree, satin or semi-gloss would look better than gloss or matte, imo.
