Yeah, I had the same problem. Then I got a new and improved model and it never happened again, plus this one cooks better. -Garrett |

BTW, I did pull it out in a few days. Leaving car with fob is draining battery, so I have got sick of jump starting it in the morning and just took fob off with great deal force.
Interesting enough, if you have one fob in, but close and lock car with second fob it my cause complete system lock down. Dash flashing, weird noises from different motors around…. Reminded me Windows blue screen of death.

Well, I can't tell what exactly happened since it appears the OP edited the OP...
However, I had perhaps something similar happen when the car thought the transmission was not in Park. I pulled and pushed and pulled and pushed but playing around with the transmission selector did the trick. |

or the lock cylinder just spins round without engaging the ignition..
Try and see if the steering lock engages.i think it is related.

Damn, glad I got Comfort Access! You would think they would have a better system in place.

This happened to me this morning, did a quick search on the forums here but didn't find an answer, so I figured I'd post my experience.
Some background info: 2007 335i Coupe 6-speed Comfort Access I had this car for almost 5 years and have had zero problems with it till recently. In one occasion the cars electrical system was completely dead. Before this happened I remember the cars navi+ radio being on after I had pushed the start button once to shut off the car. When I closed the door and locked the car using the key fob, the navi + radio turned off and everything seemed fine. However, when I returned later that day, the key fob did not work and I had to use the emergency key to get in the car. Electrical seemed completely dead as nothing happened when I inserted the key fob or hitting any of the buttons on the dash (i.e hazard lights etc). After having it jump started, I brought it to the dealer who ran a diagnostics and said everything was fine. But they also had the nerve to tell me I must have turned my car off wrong and that I must always remember to hit the push button twice to properly shut off the car. I thought to myself: I had this car for 5 years and they mean to tell me I've been shutting down the car wrong all this time?!?! Moving forward to today, during my drive to work this morning on the freeway, my radio + navi shut off and all my gauges on the dash dropped to zero. Immediately afterward an orange icon with an exclamation point popped up in the gauge cluster with the text "ABS" below it. Maybe a second or two afterwards, everything turned back on. There was no issue with the brakes nor the engine or steering during that instance; at least I didn't notice anything else wrong other than the the navi + gauges turning off and then on. When I finally got to where I was headed I hit the start button once to turn off the car. Again, the navi + radio remained on... So I hit the start button again to turn of the navi + radio. But after this the key fob was stuck!! I tried pushing the key fob in and that did not work, I even tried starting the car, moving the steering wheel (which I know there is no steering lock mechanism on the key fob, but I was at a loss of ideas here guys), I didn't bother messing with the gear shifter since I have a manual. The cars electrical system seemed to be completely dead again... After leaving the key fob stuck in the car, and running up stairs to my office to do a quick google search, I found nothing... I went back to the car to find anyone who can help me jump start the car (so I can at least get my key fob out). But Before I did that, I decided to check the battery. Immediately after opening the trunk with the emergency key, which took some force by the way, I heard the door chimes come on (I had left the drivers side door open)!!. Everything seemed normal after that and I was able to remove the keyfob, start and stop the engine, and lock/unlock the door. I am hoping that the car works fine when I leave at the end of the day today, but I'll let everyone know if something happens. I'm debating if I should take back to the dealer to have it checked out again, but the last diagnostics they ran cost me $99. I don't want to bring it in again only to have them tell me the same thing.... Anyway, thanks for reading, I hope this information is helpful to anyone out there. Maybe this is obvious, but if the car has an auto box, was the transmission left in a setting other than Park? If so, fob won't come out. Put the gearshift in Park, engine running or not, and fob pops right out.
Of course, this may not be your problem. The guy who had his "stuck" fob fixed after driving around the block may have run into this without knowing it. |

Old thread I know but this just happened to me... Turned off the engine, key stuck. Slight panic followed by cursing at the damn car. Managed to get the key out the slot with a bit of force and came inside to see what experience the forum could offer me...
So I saw the couple of posts above suggesting the auto box wasn't in park. Went out to check - yup I'd put it in neutral and not park. Key back in slot, select park and key now ready to remove again. Hooray! I've only had the car 2 days and never had auto before so I'm still learning - I definitely won't make that mistake again! Thanks to the forum I've also been saved from an embarrassing call to my steeler too!!!

Secondly, is your KF simens make or the newer addition fobs. Thirdly, open your globe box, u will see 2 buttons if u have Comfort Access. I had this issue, pushed the first button and the key came out. It might of been luck, or just a coincidence. BB |

Maybe your shifter wires are broken and the car thinks it's not in park?

I have a BMW E90 and my gf force out the keys damaging the key slot. What is the part number for the key slot. The car runs well, the only problem is the key slot (holder) keeps coming off when I push and remove the key from the slot. ...
