Performance Driving School
Can anyone recommend a performance driving education course near Houston? The 2 closest road courses are MSR and Texas World Speedway.
My neighbor recommended the Porsche Club of America Driver's Education Courses at Texas World Speedway. Apparently there are a series of levels to complete as the student's skill improves. I also read that MSR offers driving lessons, but they are more expensive than the Porsche Club courses. Also, would I get a better deal if I join a car club like the BMW Car Club of America? I didn't see any organized driving courses on their website. Thanks! |

All of the above are good ideas. BMW CCA has event all over the country so it really depends on how far you're willing to travel. If only pca has events at the local track then starting there is a good point. Any track time is good track time

Check out thedriversedge.net. They are a great group for HPDEs and run monthly events throughout TX. They are at TWS and MSR Cresson at least 3x a year. They also run MSR Houston, and occasionally others. Email Rick (rick@thedriversedge.net). When I was starting out they were consistently one of the best groups to run with. I never had a bad instructor and have taken several friends over the years, all of whom have been repeat customers.

Go to MSR and Texas World Speedway websites and look for their calendars. There will be lots of clubs offering drivers schools. I would check their schedules if possible to see who gives the most actual seat time.
