3M Double Sided Tape

Hi all

Need some help here. I need the wide 3M tape to secure my front CF lip to my car bumper.

I have got the normal thin 3M tape but it is not wide or strong enough. Need to get those wider one as per video link below.

Any help or advice is welcome.
Thanks.

Call up your local 3M branch and ask for resellers in the area.

You need the same 3M tape gopro use to stick the camera mounts to cars/helmets

I've attached mine on the bottom of my front bar and have hit 210km/h over and over on laps without it even budging. The gopro aint no aerodynamic beauty so that tape is damn strong.

I also have one on my helmet for karting and hit around 160-180 (a real kart, 6sp shifter) and no issues with it coming off.

I think so, I read somewhere they use it to hold panels on to skyscrapers?

sorry for the OT... but... karts have shifters?!

On topic:

the whole.... taping on of expensive items seems ... unwise to me. just like people taping on their little spoilers... sure it may be more permanent, but i don't want to remove it.. gooo screws!

yep, you'd be suprised. When you mention karts people think Hire Karts and its far from the truth. As a reference for below, a hire kart is probably 4-6hp and the chassis' are usually a piece of crap and tyres misaligned to the extreme.

Karts range from midgets (7-10yo) 80/100cc with about 6HP.
Juniors, Teens are 10-15hp (100cc/125 restricted)
The most popular classes are 100J/S, 125 which are 10hp/15hp and 28hp respectively
Then you go up to shifters, ours is a CRG with a maxter engine (125cc) with 42HP, 6 speed sequential box, brakes front and rear.
Then up to superkarts which are 125cc or 250cc twin engine with a 6sp box and these have the full bodykits like f1 cars.

And you also get open classes which you can sort of do what you want within limits. My partner owns a kart shop (free plug: www.kartmart.com.au) so we have a fair few karts to show them off to customers and are always for sale. We have a top of the line factory CRG which I mentioned before and also a twin rotax which probably puts out 70hp. This thing is awesome fun to drive as its got a ton of power and torque (no gearbox)

I think the shops next project should be a kart with a big motorcyle engine on it

Here's a pic of our shifter. clutch on the left of the steering wheel (you only use it to start) and the shifter on the right

Hi Eddie135 I went through the same process when I had to fit my iCarbon lip. I ended up purchasing another brand of double sided tape from

Bunnings. It was much thicker and was white colour. I tried a few 3M brands but the bond wasn't strong enough. If you go to Bunnings you will find it in

the same section. I think it was around $11 from memory. It did the job until my lip was completely busted in half Now it looks like I have splitters!

Thanks BMW86 for the advise.

Apparently, there are a few types of 3M tape around.
One of the retailer is Blackwoods who store it here in Melbourne.

Will pop by and asked for the better bonding 3M tape.

I've had good experience with 3M and they make quality stuff but I needed something asap. If you're out of luck give it a try, it definitely works.

Looks really thick. Hopefully the bonding strength is not too strong till it might peel off the paint from the bumper.
