Thumbs up on the 6MT. We are becoming an endangered species.

Thanks guys. The 6MT was a hard decision. We were originally going to go 135 with the DCT but the car is going to be my wife's D.D. and she would never use the power of the 135. Since I will be driving it occasionally and on the weekends, I wanted the 6MT for me. Plus, with the current trend in cars nowadays, I wasn't sure if my next BMW would even have one, so I got it while I still could. Not to mention, she likes the 6MT too, so why not?

Congrats on your order!

I am curious on your ETA as well. I ordered my car on Tuesday. Best information I have right now is that I am being built in week 7.

Either of you doing Performance Center delivery? I can't wait for that.

I am doing local dealership delivery ;-)
I was going to do European Delivery but I didn't want to visit Germany in March and didn't want to wait and not get my car until June.
At this point I;ll be happy to just get the car!

As of right now, my local dealer doesn't have any allocation for my car. We are in the order bank for Feb. They are confident that they will be able to get the car in for Feb. production. I sure hope so, our other car comes off lease in March and we just sold our Z4 to make room for this one. *fingers crossed*

I chose not to do the performance delivery this time around. Maybe next time.

Overall dealers quote 6-8 weeks. But one guy was more honest and said 6 weeks was ok for coupes but 8 weeks was more realistic for convertibles.

I kinda figured it would be early - mid April before the car gets here. Luckily, I have a company car. Still, carpooling is no fun, even if it is for a short time.
We had to wait until the last minute to order because the inspection for my lease turn-in is done one month out from Lease termination. I didn't want to order a car and have to turn around and pay crazy lease termination fees and penalties on top of plunking down some money for the deposit as well.

I got a response from BMWNA today on Performance Center Delivery and April 13th is the first day available for me. If I can get it a lot sooner at the dealer, say mid March then I am probably going to skip the Performance Center in favor of getting my car sooner.

I was REALLY hoping to have my car by April 1!

Congrats! Always good to see another person getting a convertible. I kind of wish now I would have gone for the moonlight top, it looks pretty cool and only adds $100 to the price. The wait is not fun, mine took 9 weeks, so hopefully you will get yours sooner than that.

I like the Oyster interior, and if I were buying one today, I would order it.

Though I'm not in the "need for speed," aka 135, I think that a 128 with sport or M-sport is a great car to drive everyday. Every time I back mine out of the garage, I smile.

Oh, yeah, the 6MT. IMHO, a 128 with a MT is a much more fun car, provided you don't have to deal with a stoplight every few seconds, every day. I don't!

If I were getting a 'vert, I'd go with the moonlight top, too.

I'm sure that your 1er will be worth the wait. And, you'll be getting it just in time for top-down season.

My thoughts exactly. As a side note, I had the opportunity to drive an 09 M3 Conv with the 6MT over the weekend. While I enjoyed the power of the car, I found that I really didn't need it and my wife wasn't happy with how large the car felt. This just re-inforced our idea that this car is going to be a blast to own and drive!

Congratulations. My dealer hasn't received his Feb. allocation yet but my advisor is keeping me updated on a daily basis. Best experience with a BMW dealer so far.

So did he actually specifically order the car for you or did he just have one coming in that he's assigning your name to?
Did you get a production number? If so you can track progross online.

As of right now, he doesn't even have a slot for a 128. He is trying to trade another car for a build spot but isn't having any luck. He is pretty confident they will be given a slot available to build in his February allotment of cars.

We are having him build it for us as there were only 4 cars in the country even close to what we wanted but none of them had the Tech w Nav. in the car and I am a techno gadget freak. Really looking forward to the BMW Apps. interface.

My SA called me and told me what week of production it would be. He said it was originally a week 9 production build but when they changed it to a "sold" unit, it jumped to a week 6 which is next week. Give your guy(or gal) a call, they should be able to tell you which week it is.
