Alcantara A Pillars

Can I wrap them? Will it have an effect on the airbag deploying? I tried searching but can't find an image of a close up deployed air bag to see how it comes out.

I just did all of my interior pieces (big door handles, the small door handle cups, long dash piece, etc.) I converted my interior over to black / red from the horrid taupe color. The A pillars / headliner are the final pieces that are the wrong color and I want to wrap them.

It's designed to pop off and move to the side in a deployment. As long as you wrap just the trim you should be fine. Be careful removing it.

I saw a Lotus at the track once that had every inch of the interior in Alcantara. Dash, steering wheel, A pillars, headliner, door handles, it was awesome!

I'm also done with it all. I just finished swapping in the black carpet and rear seats. The main reason I wrapping things is because I don't have all the black color equivalent parts....so a beige door cup on a black door would look weird. A black alcantara door cup looks amazing.

I tried taking pics with my phone but they don't do it justice. I have to fire up my dslr once I finish the other A-pillar. They are the hardest thing I have wrapped yet and I even did the piece the seat belt goes through.

Hmm. Interesting why didn't you go with black? Most people that do their ceilings want to get rid of the gray

I chose grey because all the plastic trim, sunvisors ect were grey and I did not want to paint all those parts and have them look cheesy. Plus in a small car the lighter color makes the car feel bigger.

Wouldnt really work for me now with the coral red interior on my e82, but looked amazing on the gti.

So are you guys using spray glue to hold it in place? (Super 77)
Sew the edges, staple or hot glue?

I used this stuff. You cut the edges that fall over the headliner or pillars into strips then glue them around the edge of the thing you are covering
