What coolant is recommended?
Hey guys, Just got the coolant low indicator pop up on the dash.
1. What coolant (something I don't have to get from BMW) is recommended? 2. And is it ok to top up with a coolant other than what's in there already? Thanks |

I got this coolant when I did my flush, if you got the coolant from a dealer itd be a lot more expensive.
Will be ok top top up with this fluid http://clickableautomotive.com.au/bm...e-5-litre.html 1.5L if you don't want to flush your system: http://clickableautomotive.com.au/bm...ze-1500ml.html I just mixed it with deionized water from Bunnings.

Nah Elee, trade price from the dealer is like $15-16 for 1.5L which is 50:50 mixed with distilled water (3L in total).

^^ I think you are probably right. Thanks! After a bit more research I will top up with demineralised water. There are various anti corrosion inhibitors used in different coolants, so it would be silly to take chances by mixing them. Dimin water at supercheap auto is only $6 per 5 litre bottle.
