Hell they barely speak French there...like someone from the Bayous of Louisiana think Sara504

Now that the Bloc Quebecois suffered a beat down in the last election everyone is free to speak English.
well i can't blame u the first thing i try after english in europe is german.. just because i know it (not really), after that i try chinese

actually prob what works best is just speak english in the local accent like never speak it with an american accent, immediately renders u incomprehensible, especially in england

No they just hate Americans. Canada for the win!

Please also stop putting our flag on your luggage and backpacks...people can tell you're from Murica once you open your mouths.

I grew up with a Jamaican family next door. I was always at their place and their son and I played soccer up until 17 years old. His mom spoke some serious Patois. Still remember some. Her shoe throwing and broom hitting are still unmatched.

Seem eminently fair... I had similar experience, but was my own parents... oh, and no spicy food.

Asia > Europe in the present time period.

Europe will be the same place through our entire lifetimes. Comfortable, safe, similar to what we know.

Asia is rapidly changing and needs to be enjoyed before it's too late. It's out of your comfort zone and very culturally different. Huge varieties of food and landscape.

Japan is not as applicable to above, but still not bad.

Europe isn't really all that safe and not even close to as safe as Tokyo/Japan in general. Eastern Europe isn't safe, London is getting worse, Paris is not safe, and Italy too.

Tokyo's safety is insane, particularly amazing because it's so densely populated.

Yeah, lets compare a country to a continent with 50 countries...

That is like recommending someone not to visit NYC because they once was in Ketchum, ID and the nightlife sucked there.

It does depend on what you are into. I am going to agree with OptionlessM on this one and go with Asia. Mostly, because the more different from home the better, when I think about roaming. Been all over Europe too. There isn't a wrong answer here... but I would do Asia.

Not as comparable, but The Cayman Islands is probably my #1. Tokyo is my #1 "real" city.

I've been to a lot of beaches, including Bora Bora, Hawaii (several islands), Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, etc...

While all those are beautiful, nothing quite beats the Cayman's water (warmth, clarity, snorkeling), the safety, friendly people, the Ritz is outstanding, the food, and the overall small island feel. You can feel the money flowing through that place and it's just an outstanding trip. It's also fairly easy to get there relative to a place like Bora Bora and small enough that it's not overrun by tourists like Mexico, Jamaica, and parts of Hawaii.

It's really just one big country anyway. As an American, I feel uniquely qualified to comment here, because my country is like bigger than your whole continent. I like your little country-lets. They are cute. They remind me of Alabama sometimes.

*Yes, kidding.

The culture/history is amazing in Japan. The only advantage Europe has is that there are so many countries close together, offering somewhat different experiences.

I don't know what you mean by convenience, but Europe has a lot of convenient aspects, particularly its geography. Japan is farther for anyone east of like Nevada.

NYC is OK, but NY is pretty dirty and somewhat overrated. Tokyo nightlife > NYC and much cleaner. I also think NYC is A LOT like any large US city, perhaps a little better in its scale and just as an experience. The US has a lot of similar big cities. Let's put it this way, if you've been to NYC, you still haven't experienced Tokyo. If you've been to Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, etc and not been to NYC, you've come closer to experiencing NYC than Tokyo.

NYC has some amazing entertainment and restaurants, but it's like the only good part of NY. Most of it is a dump.

The entire country of Japan is accessible through train, is all clean and has amazing other cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Yokohama.

I didn't mean safe as in crime or terrorism.

I meant safe as in daily activities such as eating/drinking safe food, traffic conditions, accommodations, and healthcare access.

Of course large westernized cities like Tokyo and Seoul don't really apply, but most of Asia is very different from the western world.
