WIDER tires on the stock rims

Does anyone know how wide a tire will fit the current rim? 265's in the back and 245's in the front?

215s are stock on the front. I have 225s on the front and they fit with no problem and maybe 235s will fit but I'm pretty sure no way 245s will fit on the front.

As for the back, 255s will fit (245 is stock), but I'm not sure about 265s. Perhaps.

225/40/18 and 255/35/18 are the widest that will fit the OE wheels per the tire manufacturers guidelines.

why wouldn't 35's fit the front instead of 40's with 225? it's only the width that changes with 225?

The second number in the tire size is a ratio of the width to the sidewall height (way to make things super confusing, tire people). A 215/40 will end up being slightly shorter in the sidewalls than a 225/40 . . . although it should not make that much of a difference.

Here's a fun link to play with:

Do the 225's up front make the steering feel heavy? and does it handle any different than the 215's, I might go with 225 fronts and 255's rear, but I want to get an opinion before I make a decision. any info is appreciated
