HPFP issues
First off, no, I have had no problems!
Was just curious to see if anyone in Oz has had one fail yet? I saw that Zuzu had one replaced but it never actually failed... |

Mine died some time ago. No long cranks it just s*at itself one weekend, dashboard like an x-mas tree. Was able to get the car started and drive to the dealership but it was in limp mode all the way there.

Long cranks are a failure as the seals are leaking. Had mine replaced couple weeks back. Took dealer long time to get approval from BMW HQ which was surprising for a known problem. Car immediately felt more responsive after the replacement.

I haven't had the HPFP problem myself but when I took my car in for service last time the dealer actually said they had a 335i being serviced with a HPFP failure. He said it is a common problem with the N54.

Mine has been and before i work on any car i scan them now, as most have fault codes for fuel pumps and a host of other issues. A car came in this week that was misfiring so solidly that i said tow it to the dealer for warranty before it got into my shop front door. (Car wasn't old either)

My HPFP has been on the way out for 6 months, maybe longer as the car has had issues for a long time. Most issues were down to my first computer and tune, so the HPFP issue has slipped by.
Symtoms include...long cranks, small misses at freeway speeds initially, and erratic performance. The issue has escalated to the point where any minor acceleration will drop the car on to 3-4 cylinders, even going up a rise in the road. Car has DP's and a Procede so our friends at BMW in Sydney town wont touch the car unless it comes to them bog standard. Does anyone know a reasonable dealer that isn't interstate? Solution...fork out the dosh to replace the bitch as the cost of getting the car back to standard for the warranty fix and reinstallation of the exhaust will end up close to the HPFP cost. Ahhh! the joys of modified cars. The Codes: 11387 2C7B 11372 2C6C 11314 2C32 12223 2FBF 10738 29F2 10716 29DC 2C7B Lambda probe behind catalytic converter, signal Error will cause a warning light 2C6C Lambda probe behind catalytic converter 2, system check Signal or value below threshold 2FBF Fuel Pressure at Injection Release Error will not cause a warning light Error is currently present Short circuit or signal interruption EXPLANATION: Fuel pump pressure code FIX: Normally requires fuel pump replacement 29F2 Fuel high pressure system, fuel pressure Error will cause a warning light 29CD 29CD Misfirings, cylinder 1 Error will cause a warning light
