Funny.
I guess they would have to change the dash. I hope they have parts. Otherwise, leave your car there and ask for an replacement car. AN M3~!

So BMW has gotten back to me, advising i need to drop the car in to be repaired. I asked about a loaner car, and they said it will cost $22 a day. Is it normal to be charged for a loaner car in this situation?

If you get the M3, go to a carpark and smoke the shit out of the rear tyres for a few hours, and then go to Newcastle and back a couple of times overnight. |

Try booking it into BMW Sydney at Rushcutters bay. I had a 323i coupe for one day on my audio issue, and a 325i sedan for over a week when they had it for the second time. When it goes in for the THIRD time for the same issue in a few days i am going to specifically ask for a convertable. Never got charged a cent on either occasion, just had to book it in weeks in advance. Possibly they have no loaner cars available and are actually getting you a rental. If that is the case book it in, specifically request a loaner and wait till it is available ( around 2-3 weeks). Speak to Ben Turner at BMW Sydney. Tell him Joel Hunter said to look after you. He is a fairly nice guy, ex-tech. I find him hard to get a hold of, but enthusiastic.

When my car was in the shop for the entire month of April I took the loaner on a few road trips to my uni and back. Put over 9K KM on it |

thanks all.. heh, 6th to 2nd on the freeway would be interesting. Gave my mother a drive, she went from 4th to 1st.. luckily she drives VERY slowly.
Have decided to hold off booking the car in till tomorrow when i can talk to my sales person about it, reckon she'll sort this out pretty quickly. i'd happily pay $22 for an M3.. or even one of those new X6 335d's, they must have torque out the bunghole..

I did something like that in my old '95 lancer. Peices of clutch all over the road, right outside my school. 4th -> 1st. Last time i made that mistake. Not much fun having everyone watch your car get towed

My entire top failed, the motors, the belts, the bushings. Everything was replaced and the car sat, in pieces, on the shop floor from April 8th to May 3rd. |

+1 No way I would accept paying for a loan car if it is a warranty problem.
My Land Rover dealer gives me a FOC car every time I service my Disco, although they are meant to charge.

I've never had to pay for a loaner car. Occasionally, but not always, I have to sign a form agreeing to pay the excess if I smash it up. I guess it depends on whether they want to sell you another car.

I have never paid for a loaner. Even more so if this is because of a warranty issue. Always good to build rapport with someone good, I have good relation with mine - even got an e93 m3 convertible as a loaner once. Next visit they have promised me a new 7 series.

interestingly i never complained directly to bmw about the rattle; just mentioned it to the customer survey people (the third one that's called me) and today bmw parra service called me and say they want to have a look! and on top of that my salesman emailed me to make sure that service had contacted me. not bad so far |

You can test drive the M3 anytime FREE. They never charge me for a loaner for warranty issue. You can always go to another dealer too. The best place to buy doesn't mean it's the best place to service.
