First limp mode...thoughts?

Commute from hell tonight. It's about 77-78 degrees out tonight, but felt hotter and in direct sun. I'm running Cobb stg1 aggressive. I had gone about 4 or 5 miles in an hour when my car went into limp mode.

First of all, that's scary as hell when you're in rush hour traffic on a bridge and don't know what the limp mode icon means. Anyway, I eventually pulled over (into a liquor store, conveniently). My oil was right at 260 and my coolant was around 205-207. The only thing I can think of was that my IAT was running around 134-135. I let the car cool for long enough to google what the symbol meant and buy beer and was on my way the second hour home.

The only thing I can think of was that my IAT got too hot, although I did end up hitting those temps and higher on the second half without issue. When I finally got some open road the IAT dropped down to the high 90's after several miles of cruising. So, any thoughts on the limp mode? That seems really high for the IAT no? (Thankfully I have a new intercooler in the mail)

Thanks,

Marc

My intake air temperature was higher then that when I was at the track a weeks ago. Ambient air temps was mid 80s. Coolant temps were around 205 to 210 and oil temps hit 270. No limp mode.

I just got around to checking the codes via my AP and got:

P2A82 - VANOS INLET
P3100 - which according to this post is just the generic code for limp mode:

I guess I'll wait and see if it happens again and perhaps try replacing this VANOS solenoid?

If it comes back. Try cleaning the Vanos first then go from there. Here is a DIY: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=486201
