I need a pic of an assembled front shock.

Can someone take a pic of an assembled front shock to see if it has the same "gap" that mine has where the strut goes through the top ring (cup). If you look at my picture there's a small gap - just got finished with putting it all back together (upgraded to BMW Performance Suspension) and both sides rattle and both sides look like this. I have theories as to why they look like this, just need to know if it's supposed to or not so I have an idea what to do to to fix it.

Here is a front fully removed from the car, not sure if this is helpful or not. This is off a 2012 m-sport 135i.

Than ks, can you take the same shot that I took on the one on the right. Pull the bump stop down and take the pic up under the top mount. I need to see if there is a small gap where the strut goes through the metal cap. I circled it below.

Fixed.
I don't know why but the nut wasn't tightened all the way down on the damper rod. I had another turn and a half.
