Deposits?
Probably a stupid question, but I've read lots of folks here mentioning they've already given their dealer a depo$it to secure their spot on the list - here's my question: this would be my first purchase of a brand new model year car and if I did put a deposit down and did get a spot in "line" do I still get to customize my 1?
For example, when people say they're the 3rd person on the "list" - does that mean if they ordered a car with the features they wanted it would be the third order placed OR that they have the option of buying the 3rd one of the truck? Thanks. |

From what my dealer tells me, they can choose what options each of their allocations has, so one should be able to order theirs wherever they are at on the list. Could be wrong, so you may want to look for additional confirmation.

As of yesterday my car has officially been ordered. Not sure what place or number I am but to me that is irrelevant. As long as I get the car I ordered exactly as I ordered it. Total came to $39,775. Montego Blue, Sport, Cold Weather, Premium Hi Fi, Ipod, Blue Tooth. I am in no hurry though since I have 4 lease payments left on my A4.

I put a deposit down on my 135I. My dealer said I was number 12 on there list. My dealer is still awaiting how many allocations there initially going to get. I'm hoping at least 12 so my car can get built.
Basicly, they get an allocation, then build the car the customer requested. |

Has your dealer received there allocations? Or is your deposit/order just placed awaiting allocations? |

Good question. I am gonna have to look into that one. As far as I was told I am going to get my car in the first round of 1'ers. I'm assuming my car is part of their initial allocation.

I stopped by Bavarian Motor Village today [one of three BMW dealers here in Metro Detroit]. They said they have 3 allocations right now for the 1-series, one of which has been taken with a deposit. Only 3 allocations makes me wonder if that's per salesperson or if it's a low volume dealership. Nevertheless, it doesn't sound like the 1-er will have a huge wait list here in Detroit based on this info I found today.

Ok heres what I've been told and only applies to the guys in Toronto Canada. The deposit enables you to be one of the first to get your 1er.. so you'll be in the first batch which goes into production in March and arrives in April.. now options wise because our CDN prices arent out yet.. they will call us in Feb when the actual prices are out so we can pick our options.
