Wow, I am glad to hear you’re not too badly hurt, but those air bags put out a lot of force. I sounds like our air bags maybe just a little too sensitive. Let us know what the dealer or the mechanics have to say about this.

Did the front and side airbags go off? If so, that sucks.
Sorry again to hear about your misfortune.

I´m confused. If you hit something with enough force to break the windscreen, why should the airbags NOT have gone off.

Also, if you hit something that made the windscreen break, how could there be no scratches? Not trying to criticize, I am just having trouble envisioning this.

As long as you emerged unscatched, that is what is important.

Not that I know but I have seen airbags break the windshield because of the force that they hit on the windscreen, its like a punch from Mike Tyson.

That is really odd. The airbags should only pop once one of the sensors are hit with enough force.

Were you or your passanger not wearing a seatbelt ? (makes it more likely they will pop )

Car wouldnt start because the positive battery terminal gets cut by a small explosive charge when car is in a accident

i know, but sometimes airbags are faulty there are a few people on the e46 board that got airbags blown out with no impact what so ever just randomly!

Maybe you hit harder than you thought and the damage is hidden behind the plastic part of the bumper. Often people cannot see the damage because the plastic part seems fine, but the real damage is in the metal behind it.

I'm with Fleet on that one. The E90 has dual stage deploying airbags.
Maybe it got triggered with only 50% of the force it should have, because it was a minor but according to the cpu of the car enough of an accident to be deployed but at only a 50% deployment force.

CPU's are clever things.
