New Flywheel? Hot spots on old one

Car's in the shop right now since I started having a slipping clutch. I've owned this car for about 1000 miles (it was used and had 5 previous owners o_o), and it looks like whoever had it before me didn't know how to treat their clutch/flywheel.

At 46000 miles, this is what my flywheel looks like.

1) The shop said I could put it back in and it'd be likely fine, but accelerate wear on clutch, and the clutch wouldn't be warranty'able.

2) Replacing it would run me about 750-800 for the flywheel thru ECSTuning. Is this worth it for a car that I only want to keep for about 2-3 years? I intend to autocross and lap it a few times around the local scene.

3) DMFs are commonly considered not re-surfaceable but there are plenty of posts on the net that suggest otherwise. Anyone know a shop in the San Jose area that can resurface this?

Thanks!

Bump. Does anyone know of any scrapyards around San Jose, Cupertino or can help me acquire me a used flywheel?

Buy a new flywheel IF you don't want to do this job again anytime soon. Your old FW is toast. Also replace all the bolts and rear crankshaft seal while you are in there.

It can't be machined because it's hard to lock down. I had the problem with my 335. I was lucky, a friend of mine in NC has a shop and used this pretty cool he attached to a drill and worked all the hot spots out. It looked like cylinder honing tool except it was smaller with stone balls at the ends. The flywheel looked great and worked perfectly.
