What is this?

Had my wheels off cleaning them and I find this broken sensor Coincidence that I had my front brakes done 5k ago at a shop? I doubt it.

Lesson learned, don't let other shops work on my car, can't trust anyone these days.

Yes that's a pad wear sensor.

Yerp, wear sensor.

Just find one shop or mechanic who you trust to do it right, and keep going back. Or DIY. We're actually kinda lucky, several really good people/companies in the DMV

Personally, if you can trust yourself that you can monitor the pads, take the wires and tie them together and complete the circuit.

The wear sensor is a completed circuit. When you wear your pads down to the sensor, it grinds away at the metal and makes the wire an open circuit.

That open circuit will throw the light.

Take those 2 wires, tie them together and zip-tie it to its own wire, or the strut hole it runs though.

I did this with my Z4M, I took the wire and duct-taped it to itself because I change the pads often and always inspecting my car.
