^^+1. No matter what spray-on wheel cleaner you use, I always spray it on dry alloys. After rinsing I always follow up with soapy water and a soft sponge I only use for cleaing my wheels.

I don't think I've ever gotten my wheels so dirty that I needed to use a dedicated wheel cleaner. Wash them once a week or once ever other week and you're fine. And if it's cold outside, just use a bucket of warm water. Job done.

Any wheel cleaner you use will not take care of the dirt by just spraying it on there, you'll have to do some scrubbing. Even though i often use Sonax, which is like a star of the moment, i feel as if people get on a bandwagon and follow others because they always see them using the product. I'm by no means saying it's bad because some of the new stuff will work better than what we've had before but don't forget that a watered down solution of a degreaser will also do the work, it has for many years, for me it's worked since i was 6 years old washing my parents cars. I often find myself using stuff like Simple Green mixed at about 1:1 with water.

Don't get discouraged when you wash the wheel and it dpesn't come out 100% clean, it just means you need more elbow grease, and trust me if you've never cleaned rims after 2 years of daily driving and never being cleaned than you've seen nothing yet.

Hope this helps bud
