I've offended the Gods again!

Luck where for ougt thou. Took the 135 for a nice country run and bang - widscreen gone again --Arrrggghhh!

Too large to repair and within an inch of the prevoius damage. I am having Novus replace it at about $500. Better than BMW $1600.

And of course the rock hit the bonnet first and has chipped and dented it.

To which ever God I have offended , I'm sorry!

There's a heated windsceen? If there is then mine isn't...

Both times the rocks have hit me have been while returning to Melbourne from Mansfield. Both times done by a Bl**dy Fowlcan driver.

qship, doesn't sound at all like a good run of luck

I've only once suffered a cracked windscreen. It was in a Jeep on a C grade road that had a fresh layer of gravel poured on tar, and I was closely following a B-double logging truck. Warning signs everywhere, so probably not unexpected in hindsight.

I have consulted with my friend Dr Bundy and his mate Coke and I feel much more relaxed now. :drinking:

Screen will be replaced tomorrow. Interestingly, quotes varied from $500 to $1100 (RACV) to $1600 (BMW)..

Shop around is the moral of the story.

Scored a nice little chip in my screen (~3mm) in week two of M3 ownership. Some good advice people is to check you have a windscreen replacement policy in your insurance. If I had the choice I would get the factory screen as a replacement but WTF with the price diff? On that basis I'd go the cheaper one too!

Lucky it isn't the comfort screen that is available on some BMs (not on 1s), that woud add a few bucks to the replacement cost I am sure (I have it on the M).

Check your insurance policy out, a few of them now have a free windscreen per year, BMW insurance, RACV, Shannons, that way you can book it in with BMW and get a Genuine screen with appropriate mouldings as well.

Just a thought...

Unhappy

BUGGER - Novus phoned back. Cannot get a screen except for genuine. Also must replace rain sensor, fog sensor and seals. And of course they can only get the parts from a BMW dealer................

Bloody monopolies

So the price of the new screen is $1100 from RACV who will fit it tomorrow (Friday)

And I have since washed the car and found half a dozen stone chips. Bugger.

Would it be better to claim on your insurance and pay the excess?

Certainly makes me think the OziCozi bra is worthwhile too
