125i decat

Hi guys,
I'm about to decat my n52 and was wondering if I will have issues with the CEL.
Are there any ways on how to by pass the sensors? I heard of antifouling spark plug being put on the exhaust sensors. Is that a viable option?

CEL will happen if you remove your exhaust manifold for Headers like Supersprint.

If you instead cut out your secondary catylic converters tou will be okay

I am not going to cut secondary cats as I don't have them. I am going to cut the cats that are joint with the header the (2 3 in 1's)

Evolve tune will remove the CEL issue.

I would wait until you can afford headers. Gutting the cat is only 1 part of the picture, and selling stock cats can get you a decent bit of money.

I cannot sell the cats either way as we do mot's every two years and check for emmisions so I would keep the cells and after 2 years weld them back in or find a guy which closes an eye on them
another thing is that we don't have evolve tune in our country so it would be a tad of a hassle contacting them for just a CEL given that I already have a tune

We don't have Evolve in the US either. But if you are capable of sending/receiving email, you can get an Evolve tune.

As for that other process, I absolutely would get a proper set of headers and just swap them back and forth with the stock units. Rewelding/unwelding constantly is absurd.

I don't need an evolve tune as I already have a proper tune. all I need is a way to by pass the CEL if it lights up because I dont actually know what will happen and tbh I read on forums that if it's the case an antifoul spark plug will do

Perhaps I'm not being clear enough, Evolve bypasses the CEL.

ohh sorry, I thought you where saying that by tuning the ecu to 130i spec the cel could be bypassed too.
So they can just bypass the cel without touching my ecu tune?

No, evolve's tune will bypass the CEL/codes. It will overwrite your previous tune all though i recommend flashing to stock before flashing to another company's tune. AA's newest tune will net you 7/8 emissions system's ready for inspection which will pass in most of the USA, but no idea what other country's emissions requirements/testing are.

You can also just run o2 defoulers to eliminate the CEL. Apparently our computers are finicky and you will need to test several sets before you find one that works.

As stated a proper tune is going to be the best route & give you the most out of a catless header setup.

I have never read of any 02 defoulers working long term.

Exactly, though I would skip the O2 defoulers. My guess is the HKS versions would actually work, but I doubt anyone is going to spend that money.

So defoulers don't actually work?

From what I've always seen, very hit or miss, mostly miss.
