Completely agree - definitely should not try to replicate the prior cast - Harris and Sabine just being who they actually are would be great.

Frankly, the Clarkson era had become uncomfortable to watch. The humor never matured. Wit is by far a greater virtue than sarcastic humor. And sarcasm is like all humor that belittles human character, which with time wears an audience's patience. The old show was sarcastic and seemed an eternal repetition of the same old joke - exaggeration.

Sabine is simply attractive and talented as a super successful racer and very fast at the wheel. She is inspiring to watch. And Harris contributes lots of good information in a short period of time. The show will finally have some real substance.

Top Gear will finally have a bit of journalism. Good bye rancid humor and welcome witty auto journalism.
In other words ratings are going to drop in half.

To be honest, Clarkson's jokes were only rarely witty and I got very bored of the Top Gesr concept of clowns doing the most silly races. The only good and memorable one was the one across Alabama with the obscene writing on their cars. But the rest was all too staged for my liking. I actually found it hard to watch an entire Top Gear episode unless there was a very good special guest.

Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz will be perfect given their solid car and driving knowledge and skills. I'd rather see a proper car review than some idiots crashing vans down some mountain gorge.

Looking very much forward to the new series.

The original Top Gear (Clarkson, May, Hammond) started going in the wrong direction toward the end with all of those silly challenges, e.g., build your own ambulance car. It was stupid frankly. I really enjoyed their car reviews on the Top Gear Test Track and trips in super cars. The new show should stick to that, and it will do well.

I personally think that "we" as the we viewing population will be much better off this year for car shows...

1) CMH (and Wilman) presenting a motoring show as they always wanted to, without being hamstrung by BBC budgets and restrictions etc... I'm hopeful that this will be a fine spectacle... After all they completely revamped top gear from a show in the doldrums to a national treasure on a shoe string budget all those years ago.... Imagine where they will go to now... This will be them resurrecting 10+ years of ideas that were considered too expensive or too risqué coming to fruition for the boys who really know the motor show format inside out... Exciting stuff if you ask me...

2) 2 current motoring officianados in Sabine and Harris presenting a motoring show lead by a bloke who, whilst I accept is very "marmite", is very talented at producing an original show on a widely recognised format... He has created TFI Friday, buried it, then resurrected it, and then helped the Radio 2 breakfast show shoot to the forefront of radio listings... Sounds like a recipe for a damn fine motoring/ entertainment show of you ask me.... Can't be arsed listening to all the nay-Sayers out there... Let's stop speculating negatively, and wait with baited breath for the entertainment that awaits! One of the shows also has two bonafide BMW nuts on it as well... So hopefully plenty of coverage for our favourite marque!!

Not looking for the same chemistry because that was due to the personalities involved but these new folks can hopefully create their own chemistry based on their own, different, personalities. Also, I have to admit that, for the last while, Top Gear had gotten away from a focus on cars to more of "entertainment" by asking them to create cars that could work as boats, alternatives to rail cars, alternatives to ambulances, etc. In addition, there were way too many exotics and not enough on cars that were more relevant to the audience.

I like matt farrah and chris harris. I dont think Top Gear will be a hit without the trio of clarkson, hammond, and may. its a chemistry that only works as a team. Was 2.5 men the same without charlie?

Looks like Chris Evans is picking up right where Jeremy left off:

Quote:
Chris Evans has found himself at the centre of new claims that he is a bully in the workplace, who couldn’t help flashing his penis.

The new Top Gear host, who the BBC defended this week from claims that he is more ‘volatile than Jeremy Clarkson’ , has been the centre of discussion on a Facebook page, according to HeatSt.com and The Sun.

It’s been reported that the husband of a former Top Gear executive, who walked away from the job after five months, blasted Evans.

Producer Lisa Clark left the show amid claims that the 50-year-old was a “control freak”.

Clark’s husband Dan McGrath, who also reportedly worked with Evans on his BBC radio programme, blasted Evans’ alleged behaviour on Facebook.

Chris Evans is reported to be having a pop at Top Gear staff just like Jeremy Clarkson did, rightChris Evans is reported to be having a pop at Top Gear staff just like Jeremy Clarkson did, right
"It's so sad nothing has changed over the past 15 years (Leopards & spots) Does he still believe, even at 50 its worth being properly sh***y to people to get the results he wants? Given our recent experience I guess so,” McGrath reportedly wrote on an open Facebook group last week.

A former colleague, Steven D Wright, replied: "Dan, once a c*** always a c***!"

Evans’ former colleague Nicola Waddell, who also worked with the entertainer between 1992 and 1993, added: "You'll know better than most for sure.

"A bully is someone who's usually been bullied but that's 100 per cent and absolutely no excuse."

Among the discussion, the group claimed that Evans would often expose his penis and even get fully naked while working on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast in the 1990s.

One dubbed it an ‘early morning ritual’, while Waddell said: “It was as regular as clockwork… with lots of wiggling”.

Evans has previously spoken about getting his penis out in front of his work colleagues, admitting he thought it was "the funniest thing in the world".

While Rowan Somerville said: "I remember those naked days. An emanation of orange, like autumn come early as if there was a russet coloured burst of light from a not very dangerous firework."

BBCEddie joins the new Top Gear line up Matt Le Blanc, Chris Evans and The Stig
The BBC have declined to comment at this time.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that an ‘angry’ former colleague is getting ready to lift the lid on his true colours.

Now she’s reportedly gearing up to give her side of the story about his alleged behind-the-scenes tantrums, according to the website Heat Street.

“Evans worked with this lady for two years and I’ve read a statement by her that certainly reflects her anger,” Miles Goslett wrote.

“She has made no attempt to hide from friends her recollections of that time and is now weighing up whether to discuss them publicly.”

It is unclear at this time what the allegations against Evans are.

However the BBC did not respond to Mirror Celebs questions as to whether an investigation into Evans past or present behaviour had ever been carried out.

Earlier this week, BBC bosses defended the new Top Gear host .

Rumours have spread that the presenter has a worse temper than his predecessor Jeremy Clarkson - who was infamously fired from the show after punching a producer.

According to some, he has been struggling to balance fronting the long-running motoring series with hosting his Radio 2 breakfast show and it's had a serious impact on his mood.

Following so much speculation, Mark Linsey, Director of BBC Studios and Bob Shennan, Controller of Radio 2, have spoken exclusively to Mirror Online to set the record straight.

Chris Evans is being accused of bullying in work
"The assertion that Chris Evans' behaviour at Radio 2 since beginning work at Top Gear has been in any way below BBC acceptable levels is completely untrue," they said.

"Since taking on Top Gear alongside his Radio 2 breakfast show, Chris has displayed even greater commitment and professionalism.

"He remains a team player, a huge asset to the BBC and continues to show outstanding leadership in all he does on Radio, Television or for Children in Need."

The comments come after claims were made in The Sun suggesting the star was heading for a breakdown. The tabloid alleged that Chris was so volatile at work that he recently lost his temper with a producer and reduced them to tears.

"Chris is turning up exhausted and miserable and his staff have noticed a huge difference," a source said.

"Top Gear’s a full-time job, but Radio 2 involves waking at dawn every day. It’s probably no surprise he seems close to breaking point."

However, after speaking with the BBC it seems the allegations couldn't be further from the truth.

I dunno.

I read that story and think "two incredibly successful people who are literally at the top of their respective games/worlds really sweat the small stuff and other people don't like it"

Not a surprise nor necessarily a bad thing.

Not everybody can behave like Clarkson or Evans, but very few people will ever have the skills or success to approach them. I'm sure Beethoven was an asshole too.

I'm excited for the new Top Gear but even more for for Clarkson's new show "Grand Tour" on Amazon.
The US version of Top Gear just blows, I keep on forgetting to delete the series from my DVR permanently.

Maybe b/c the "Grand Tour" name isn't really catchy. We'll see, I bet the content should be pretty damn good tho. Too bad they didn't land with Netflix. House of Cars is a good play.

The American viewer will watch some really bad tv if it's about the cars. The cast of the US version of Top Gear just does not work. I have never seen such a disconnect in what people want to see and these shenanigans from these morons, gummbahs, and Tanner get your butt out of there!!! Wow, just does not translate.

I agree, the American Top Gear is horrible. It's definitely geared towards the redneck crowd who think racing is only left turns and Possum Stew is a delicacy.
