Am thinking of doing that this summer...just need 135i fender lines and then some way to attach behind the foglight. Will take some cutting I'm sure..but likely doable.

So I got the Z4 rotors and the proper carriers from a wrecking yard for the fronts. Now its on to finding some track pads.

Looking HERE
It seems as If I should be getting pads that fit the 06 330 in the front, and standard 128 in the rear.
CT1061: 06 330i Front
CT1267: 08 128i Rear

But I remember reading earlier in this thread that my stock pads (128i pads) would work fine with the new rotors. Can anyone confirm which pads would be right for me? I'm using stock 128 calipers.

XP10 is what was recommended by carbotech.

Where did you find the carriers?

I searched car-part.com and was tough to find anyone to sell me the carriers alone. Ended up with some 330 calipers complete with new pads and the carriers for $80 shipped (was $60 shipped for just the carriers, so why not...) Way cheaper than buying new even if I don't use the calipers.

Of course this still begs the question, would these 330i pads work in the 128i calipers? I'm thinking no based on my research, but wanted a second opinion.

Use the 128 pads with the updated rotors.

I'm looking into this so I could lighten up the unsprung weight on the front of the car. Have some SULEV e90 330i aluminum calipers (same dimensions as the OEM 128i calipers), and am interested in switching to the 330 carrier to utilize the ECSTuning 2-piece rotors to drop another 2lbs of unsprung or so up front per wheel.

I had'nt thought to actually use the 330i calipers they sent me with the brackets. Looking at what they sent, the look to be aluminum. So this would be better due to lower unsprung weight? They are from an 06 with unknown mileage, so I wonder if they should be rebuilt before use.

Those look to be the aluminum type (you can tell by the fins on the outside). You made out like a bandit. I need to look at my carriers now too...

Yes! those are the larger piston front calipers from the 330i/z4. They are lighter which helps offset the weight of moving to a 330mm rotor. You can even reduce unsprung weight a lb or two if you buy the two piece rotors.

I passed up this set and now I am kicking myself for it Definitely bolt up the new caliper (maybe rebuild/paint them?) if you're going to use those carriers anyway! Pads can stay the same, from what Iv'e read.

Suprgnat had a thread where he detailed this conversion btw!

I thought so too. But with unknown mileage Im not sure I want to use these calipers without rebuilding. Look over at rockauto right now and you can find a set for $210 WITH BRACKETS. Half that if you plan to send back the cores. Had I known, I would not have bothered getting used brackets and would have just got the rockauto setup.

I plan on buying a new lower front bumper grill and using a dremel to open up more of the honey comb... You can duct air from there and still keep your fogs. This is for the post 2011 face-lift active-e front bumper.

(The numbers say 12.5% more brake torque front and 10.25% more rear just from the larger front rotors and rear pistons) Pedal effort has decreased for a given deceleration rate and the feel is VERY linear and predictable with fantastic release characteristics.
I thought that setup didn't fit under your 17" 207m's that are in that picture? You moved back down to a 300mm rotor in order clear the barrel?

I use my 17" style 262's in the winter is why I ask... I just picked up the aluminum 328i calipers (57/24/300) and 328i rears (42/20/300). I'd prefer to have the larger 330mm rotors though if they'd fit under the stock rims.

Right - I'm thinking along the same lines as my pre-LCI bumper also has honeycomb grilles that can be drilled out.....from there I'm likely going to purchase the 135i fender liners and brake ducts and try to see if I can match things up

I used the stock calipers with the 330mm rotors. It was the aluminum calipers that caused the issue. They have extra meat to maintain rigidity that interfered with the wheel. I may switch to the steel 57mm E84 X1 front calipers at some point. Have to do a little more research as their pads are FMSI 1260 vs. FMSI 1061.

Here's the clearance with the stock calipers and 300mm rotors:

130i Caliper Carriers

Hi, Can anyone help me with the casting number for the carriers to allow the 330mm Rotor Upgrade. My supplier tells me that the part number is not stamped on the part but it has a "Casting" number. He wants to make sure I have the correct part.

I'm planning to upgrade my 125i to 330mm discs (rotors) using the stock calipers.

Here's the clearance with the stock calipers and 300mm rotors:
Clearance is tight there... maybe the 262's have more room? I am guessing the 57/24/300 calipers are the exact same aluminum calipers as the 57/24/330 calipers and they just utilize different carriers. Maybe they are slimmer though since RealOEm shows a weight difference between 34116769092 (2.370kg) and 34116769094 (2.390kg). Not sure if that weight includes the carrier weight though... the smaller carrier would explain the slightly lower weight listed for the 328i calipers...

The Realoem I'm looking at has the 34116778145 at 3.95 kg (they're steel). They're slimmer because it take less material to keep them rigid.

You're right. I didn't realize there was a weight difference between the new number (34116778145/6) and the superseded number (34116769092):

Part 34116769092 was found on the following vehicles:
3' E90   (02/2004 — 08/2008)
3' E91   (02/2004 — 08/2008)
3' E92   (05/2005 — 02/2010)
Z4 E89   (01/2008 — 03/2016)

which was superseded by 34116778146 (heavy cast caliper). I corrected the above post.

Part 34116769094 was found on the following vehicles:
3' E90   (02/2004 — 09/2008)
3' E90 LCI   (07/2007 — 12/2011)
3' E91   (02/2004 — 08/2008)
3' E91 LCI   (07/2007 — 05/2012)
3' E92   (05/2005 — 02/2010)
3' E92 LCI   (07/2009 — 06/2013)
3' E93   (09/2005 — 02/2010)
3' E93 LCI   (07/2009 — 09/2013)
X1 E84   (09/2008 — 06/2015)
Z4 E89   (01/2008 — 03/2016)

34116769092 (2.370kg) and 34116769094 (2.390kg) are the two front calipers to buy. 34116769092 would come with a carrier for the 300mm rotor while 34116769094 would come with a carrier for the 330mm rotor. Again, not sure why they are listed with slightly different weights since I am guessing it's the exact same caliper, but if the 34116769092 weighs slightly less then hopefully it's a little slimmer making 330mm fitment possible with 17's.

These are the Z4 calipers I bought and painted (that did not fit) before powder coating. It's easier to see the details without the paint. P/Ns 34116769093/94:

Yeah they look pretty much the same as the 57/24/300 stamped calipers (34116769092). So if you want to stick to 300mm rotors to clear 17" wheels then you can find these cheaper and more readily available. Weight savings is ~2.044 lbs based on realoem. Can't wait to get mine painted and mounted!

Dang, I was hoping my 57/24/300 stamped calipers would work on 17" wheels. Glad I saw this response before I went to rebuild them. Sticking with the stock steel calipers, 330i brackets, and 330mm rotors from the Z4. Now I just need to find a good deal on some track rated pads.

The barrels of the style 262's might give more clearance... Maybe you can measure the current clearance and see if you have the overhead to run the other caliper?

Ok I did my brake job today with the z4 rotors and the 330i caliper brackets and stock 128 brakes and pads. It all mounts up, but it appears the caliper cylinder does not fully connect with the back of the stock pads as seen below

Thoughts? Should I put my 330i pads on there, or did I mess something up?

If all you did was attach your stock calipers and pads to the 330i brackets, then I don't see how the relationship between the two could have changed. The pad position relative to the piston is largely defined by the clips on the back of the pad. I've been running this set-up for a while now, albeit with Stoptech pads, and have had zero issues. I'll run downstairs and yank off a front wheel and check it out for you.
