Fun session chasing a 1M at Calabogie - onboard video
Really fun session at Calabogie - onboard a Z4 M Coupe running neck and neck with a 1M for a few laps around the track.

I was just there on Saturday and up at Mt.Tremblant on Thursday. Saturday was great, love that track! If that white 1M had Quebec plates it was probably Guy, he's 100% stock on the engine and pretty sure everything but tires are stock. Ah I see you are in the instructors group, yup i'm sure that was Guy then!

Snoopy11 thanks, we had so much fun that session! It's hard to say what would happen if we swapped cars. I drove a bone stock 1M at the Glen and loved it - it's such a capable car right out of the box. As you can see fomr the video, the M Coupe was gaining mostly in the braking zone and I think that's mostly due to later, harder braking, so I think if the 1M is driven harder, it would be a bit faster than the M Coupe, at least on these 275 Hankooks.

Wow! Such a great video really, thanks for posting this especially for those of us who don't have nearby tracks like this one.
Love the sound of Z4M engine, love the car, loved the Z3M Coupe even more maybe, and now the 1M; BMW makes smaller cars better, that's a fact. Great driving from all 2 (3 indeed) cars, maybe yours (camera car, Z4M) was a bit better managed. Not surprised to see the 1M pulling so hard on straights while (lighter, lower and less torquey) Z4 better balanced on turns. Makes me wonder 2 things: a) How great would it be to have the E46 M3 CSL engine in a track focused Z4 M CSL? b) How great would it be to have the 1M with less weight (a 100 kg. minimum), a 1M CSL? We can dream, can't we?

fastauto, yers, Calabogie is a very addictive track! I feel like I do so much over one lap and there are a few compromise turns, so definitely a few different ways to drive it and you never get bored with it.
Mtl135i, I have not had the M Coupe at Tremblant but I run it at 2:04 in the E46 325i on street tires and extrapolating based on comparison times at other tracks, I think the Z4MC would be ~ 1:58.
