Steering Wheel
Hello all!
I would like to get some objective views here. I have a 2008 135i with around 14k miles on it. The steering wheel center is wearing away where I have my thumb when I'm driving and the stitching on 3 of the 4 seams is coming completely undone. By this I mean an inch or more of thread is hanging from 3 different places on my wheel. Its taken 6 months of taking pictures and now being told I have to wait for 1-3 months for a regional rep to stop by on short notice to look at it, because really that's just "wear". Have other people had similar problems? If so what was your dealers response? I'm frustrated but short of a formal complaint (which I don't like to burn bridges as I only have 1 dealer within 120 miles of me) I have not been able to get any satisfaction. And in looking to get a 1M, this kind of service is really making me wonder about how good the warranty will take care of me. If the seats fell apart at 14k miles in 2 year... is that just "wear"? If the transmission falls to bits is that just "wear"? I'm really a bit disturbed at this mentality, and I will have a hard time buying another car from them if this is the case that everyone else sees. Thanks all! |

OP - Take your pictures and sit down and write a "nice" polite letter to BMW telling them what you want done. Send your old fashioned "snail mail" letter "registered US Mail. Watch how fast you get a new steering wheel. It really is just that simple sometimes.

Wow, Im in shock your car is 3 years old and only has 14k on it, lol.
That might not help your argument though. How does a car with only 14k miles on it have such crazy wear on the steering wheel? |

If I don't get a 1M Ill happily start taking a photo journal of the threads, I'm sure after another year or so most of the steering wheel cover will be threadless. |
