2012 128i Ordered on 3/25/2012 - A journey!
I've been a BMW fan for a long time. I've owned three E30s (Still own an '89 325i) and promised myself I'd buy a new one when I was ready.
I'm ready. After almost a year of researching I went in on Saturday to Richmond BMW and worked out all the details for a new 128i. Yesterday I sent over my color and option choices and got my production number. 2012 128i 6-speed manual Le Mans Blue Black Boston Anthracite wood trim Convenience package M Sport package Premium Package 2 Harmon Kardon BMW Assist Automatic High Beams Performance Center Delivery My production number comes up with an Alpine white 128i, so I think they are reallocating an existing production slot which hopefully means I'll get my car faster. Going with the 3.9%/60 financing from BMW FS. I paid more than $500 over invoice, but I had an amazing experience at the dealer and I'm really happy with the deal overall. An extra $1000 here or there on a $40k car won't make much of a difference. I'll keep the thread updated |

Congrats.
The website will show corrected information probably in a week or so. Got mine a couple weeks ago and it took 7 weeks exactly from order to my driveway. |

Pretty much the same build as me (except no HK, no auto highbeams, oyster leather interior instead of black).
Placed order on 2/27--production completed as of today. (Woo hoo!) Now just need the boat to get her here... |

A 1M with the same options has an MSRP of $53,535. Plus I didn't want the turbos, and I set a financing limit of $37k for myself. I'm very happy with my purchase. It's under my budget, is exactly what I want, and was painless. |

Congrats on the car and good luck with the wait! I got very impatient towards the end of waiting for my order. |

Frustrating experience #1:
My order has been sitting at status 111 since Sunday and the dealer said its normal and just to stick with 6-8 week expectation. Well, I'm trying to hit the first week of June for PCD which would be the 10th week after ordering. Plenty of time, right? Well I followed up with someone at PCD and they said my car is set to priority 3 which means it'll sit at 111 until the dealership tells the plant they have a buyer. I've talked to my CA about it twice now and he said everything is fine and we'll "hope for the best", but the car is still sitting at 111. Here's the important part: if the car moves to 112 today I can get my PCD date I need. If I can't get that week I'll have to take dealer delivery as I'll be traveling for work the following 4 weeks. Where should I go from here? Should I call the sales manager? I feel kind of like an ass because I don't entirely understand the process and fear I may be talking out of my ass, but something feels off here. I'm starting to think this may be where the 12-16 week waits come from: someone being lazy at the dealership. |

I spoke with someone at BMW NA and they said my car is in "daily production"... Whatever that means.
Also heard back from dealer. Car is at priority 1 and scheduled for early may build. Hopefully that gets me PCD the first week of June... |

Bummer....just set up my delivery for 7 Jun....
I got really lucky as the dealer said they had a 1-series production slot in Apr...so I hurried and finalized my order. Appears to have worked. 2 thumbs up to Garland Helton at Global Imports Atl. |

So this is weird. I checked the 800 number today and it says my car is in production and will be completed April 19th! So much for a week 18 production week! I guess that means my car should be in the states by mid-May. Maybe I'll get my first week of June PCD after all...
