Mine holds torque just fine in all gears when fully engaged, but will not hold an aggressive launch in 1st (slips slightly all the way to redline) so I have been launching conservatively. I also occasionally notice about 1 second of slip when making a 1-2 or 2-3 shift if I go right back to full throttle.

DUDE! lol

That's exactly what was happening to mine.

The stock clutch was perfect, but couldn't handle aggressive launches. It slipped towards the end of the RPM curves of 1-2 and 2-3

Just pay the extra and get a new 1M DMFW... you're swapping out the clutch && have to go through the wear-in period anyways... so you might as well wear in a new DMFW rather than have your new clutch fail earlier later on because you didn't swap both at the same time.

Per my dealer, my clutch wasn't worn too bad (they estimated another 2-3 years of regular street driving left) but the DMFW had light cracks and heat spots.. so I ended up just replacing both. Again, the 335is clutch is ace and grabs the extra power perfectly!

Just went to the dealer parts counter and got a quote for the F10 550i clutch and stock 1M flywheel.

Clutch set including pressure plate and throwout bearing (part number 21-20-7-603-248) is $529.74

Stock DMFW (part number 21-20-7-619-659) is $1301.52

6 ISA screws $13.56

I am surprised that the BMW part is $300 less than the cheapest offering from clutchmasters. Considering that the clutch is cheap, I think I will take the chance and only order the clutch. If the DMFW looks destroyed, I will bite the bullet and buy it. Even if the DMFW is worn enough to cut the clutch life in half, it would be worth re-using one time, IMHO.

So the 1M flywheel works with the 550 clutch? Good info for when I need to replace the clutch on my N55 135i which has the same trans as the 1M.

See my Post #16, double-check RealOEM, and ask whomever you're buying it from.
3 sources told me the clutch is OKAY, but the 1M Flywheel doesn't fit the N55 135i tranny. Sounds like a thickness issue.
But I'd love it if it does!

Yeah, it was just the labor and wear-in time for me.

The prices you will pay for peace of mind. -___-

That does not makes sense really. The 1M and the N55 135i have the exact same transmission, same part number. Or is it the 550 clutch can not be used on the 1M flywheel, so if you have a 1M, you have to use a 135i flywheel?

You guilted me into it . . . just ordered both. I have a track day coming up, and won't have to worry about it too much if I am changing both. I'll change them once the weather goes to crap.

You've got me wondering if ALL the shops I asked ignored the year of my car!

N55 135i and 1M use GS6-45BZ 6MT;
N54 135i and 335is use GS6-53BZ 6MT.
Bigger question is: are we SOL on the 335is/550i clutch with the N55 1-ers? If so, should we go with 1M Clutch and DMFW?
Who can we trust to research and install it?
Or just go full-aftermarket and get a SMFW?

Hope we can get to the bottom of this.

ECS shows the 550 clutch to fit both the N54 and N55 135i.

https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-13...tch/ES1897635/

Asked ECS if it will fit the 1M flywheel.

Bonus, the clutch kit is currently on sale for $349!

I am asking because if the 1M flywheel works with this clutch, and if the 1M flywheel is a couple pounds lighter, I think the best combo for my N55 135i would be a 1M flywheel with the 550 clutch.

I concur!
Let me know what they say.
When I asked 2 weeks ago they were happy to sell me a 550i clutch but said 1M DMFW was a no-go...

Yep, that's the one . . . BMW part # is referenced on their site. I had no idea I could get it from ECS for $350. Damn. Bought it from BMW dealer for $529.

So guys, does this kit definitely fit a 1M? They don't list it as fitting on the ECS website, but from what I've seen above you guys are having success with it: https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-13...tch/ES1897635/

Thanks.

Guys the only difference between the flywheels is the 1m has a six bolt flywheel to crank and the early 135's are eight bolt
