New boxster launch. Anyone go?

Went in for a look at Brisbane yesterday.
Not a bad looking car. Scary price though.
Get the basic performance options on the S and its over $160k.

Yeh, I went along.

The Carrara white S they had here had a few options PDK, flappy paddles, chrono pack, memory seats $172k drive away that's more than my R cost.

Now, the grey Gt3 RS out the back hmmmmmm

Never been a real fan in the past with their designs but gotta say the new boxster has really caught my eye. Was there yesterday too. The yellow is never a colour I would have considered but found was actually more attractive than the metallic blue boxster s they had.

I am seriously considering getting the new boxster. Just gotta convince the wife now why 2 seats is more practical than 4! Lol

Went to both Brisbane & the Gold Coast (bought my 911 there), Gold Coast was a much better experience, very classy, great food & set-up. Brisbane pretty average with just BBQ sausages, the cut away 997 turbo was the standout there for me.

I'm not a boxter fan, so went for more than just that.

It looks good, but as everyone else mentions its price point is a little high

Anyone have a go at one?

I drove past on the way home from work on Sat afternoon and wondered what was going on. Disappointed I didn't get an invite after test driving a GT3 there a couple of months ago. Not that I'd be interested in a Boxster though...

Went to the Melb one. Kinda boring tbh.... Boxters on the showroom and nothing else. Was much more interested in the 3 GT3s and 1 GT3RS outside!!

Test drives start from next week.

Went to the Gold Coast event to see the Carrera GT and 917 ( replica ? ) on display. Sure would like to have a 917, even a replica. The boxster looks a treat but they are creeping up in size and gizmo add-ons. Got to get something for the exorbitant price I s'pose.
Is it just me or are the older Porsches starting to look like a better proposition? Say a 996 Carrera S with the "real" steering. A low klm car in good nick will be 50% of its' new price and even if you have to spend a little to attend to anything that needs doing you will still have a great car. I mean, how much more performance do you need than one of those?

You'll want a 996 with the GT1 based engine though. A 996 GT3 MkII?

Yes please, though they tend to hold their price better than the standard models and are therefore more expensive to buy at the outset.
Interesting conundrum - do you pay more for a GT3 in the hope that it will hold its' value or go for a lower priced Carrera S which has almost the same level of performance: arguably the same level of performance in the real world and a greater level of comfort, especially in the 996 which has less tyre roar than a 997 and any of the GT3s / RSs. I ike the rawness of the high end models but it can get tiresome.

Might not be a lot of negotiating on price now since its just released but wait 12 months and Porsche do great deals - especially floor stock or your an existing porsche owner. 25% discount from list is not uncommon. My nephew reciently purchased a Boxster S which was his third plus he's had a 911. Did him a great deal to get him back after he had a brain fade moment and purchased a TTRS.

No question you go with the best car you can get. A GT2/3 will always hold better resale than a Carerra 911.
