Thanks DNDC. Interesting read and the finished car when tracked should attract media and fan attention, perhaps even BMW themselves.
There is a thread in the main 1M forum which details its progress. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=684308 Last edited by david.orr; 07-03-2012 at 05:27 AM.. |

Good one Don't Know Don't Care. Thy've gone the full hog and used KW suspension and BMW Motorsport race parts like exhaust. Will be keen to see more photos as they develop the package.

The exhaust is actually the full titanium Akrapovic. Beric is planning to modify it and run it as a side exhaust in order to fit the large fuel tank. Legal under the regs. Much of the car mods and race parts are bespoke as this is the first of its' type. The wheels are only slightly lighter than the stock 1M's and are 18 inchers. Beric feels that ultra light wheels deform too much when they get hot and are susceptable to damage over ripple strips and the like.
Just an off topic thought.....have you ever considered the contradiction in tyre sizing? Imperial diameter eg. 18 inch, 19 inch etc - Metric width eg. 245mm, 265mm etc. How did this come about? Was it committee thing or what? Does 457.2 seem so hard to use instead of 18 inches? |

"Only 100 1 Series M Coupes were allocated for Australian customers and all have been purchased so it was a sheer fluke this car came into the clutches of Lynton."
They can't even get the fact right. I'm certain you all agree that there are more than 100 came into Australia.

I believe the owners at Lynton have been customers of Evolve Automotive (UK) for sometime now, on their personal cars. Evolve Automotive will be launching locally in a couple of weeks. I just need to get forum sponsorship sorted :-) |

They are BMW M specialists and were among the first to have N54 tune, with R&D based on inhouse Dyno & road testing. They are able to tweak that tune based on your car mods. Highly rated in UK and now taking off in US. They've had rave reviews from BMW Car magazine. Plus, you can always flash the car back to stock. |

I got confirmation that they don't rewrite the entire DME, they only change specific map locations.
The key feedback from other 1addicts 1M owners on this tune (when compared to COBB, JB4 etc) is that the power delivery is very smooth & linear, very much like stock except faster. And the M button still works! As Ian's pointed out, traction is already an issue, so surges in power may not be a good thing. EvolveR stock is on global back order, a small number of units have been secured and are being shipped to Aus this week so pls PM if you're interested. |
