finally got a few aw pics 2011 135i

some shots of my new aw 135i, had the grill painted anthracite grey to go with the light housing and I never add any emblems or anything gawdy but I just like the m emblem with the colors, I dont mind what anyone thinks and not trying to be pretentious i just thing it looks better than plain and if you know your cars then you know it's not an m1 and there are enough m emblems everywhere, wheels, st. wheel, footrest, etc for I think for it to be ok... want to get that out of the way first. on eibach springs and just added the hid angel with pics soon, meisterchaft gt exhaust and m3 sway bars installing next week.

The OP does make a point! The car with the M-sport package has ///M's all over the place, I think the added badge is just one more ///M. So if he likes it, he should have it without criticism.

thanks for the support, I am gong to ad pics soon of the last 4 cars i had clk 430, c55, 997 s and they all have very tastefiul mods to all of them. looks good in person and when i am finished I believe it will look good. every car I modded I have a theme in mind, the look I am going for is a mainly white clean stock sorta look, trying not to add too much black as I have seen on many AW, blk wheels, gloss blk grill, cf bits, black spoilers these all look ok but add much blk to the car, I even thought about painting the lower diffuser like the cf but in AW and the m3 pwr dome hood and have the sml slits in anthracite as well, ch tips on the gt exhaust. no wheel has appealed to me yet and stock looks pretty good. I am tinting the car 35% but really don't want too much blk even on the glass. this is just my prefrence. stay tuned for more pics. thanks again to all the well wishers.

Excellent choice with the grille. I like that much better than the black for a white car. Matches well.

As for the emblem, do not like. It's not an M car, and with the real 1 M coming, it's no different than putting an M on a 328 or 528 or even a 7 series. The M-Sport package has M-Badges, but not in noticeable places. They're all in the interior except for the tiny M decals on the M wheels. Putting an M badge on the trunk is claiming your car is a different model entirely that's derived from M division, which it isn't.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. I like the gray grilles.

Expect to receive a LOT of flack about the ///M badge on a BMW enthusiast site, but it's your car - do what you want with it.

Move the badge over a bit like the standard 135i script. Lining it up with the trunk crease is too rigid.

I knew I would get the slack, I would normally have the same comments...but looks much diffrent live not as big and i just really liked the grey/blk/wht colors call me strange but if you paid me I would not put on the regular color m badge, I just like the colors as part of my theme and m represents bmw motorsports and not m1 or from a car inthusiast and people who really know cars, it is what it is a 135i..it's not like I have a 997s and put on a turbo emblem or a cts and put on a v emblem. I read on many threads about this and I can understand to a point.. do you really think I am trying to pass this car as an m model ?, I am just having fun with this and even though I seen so many mods and personalization that I find hideous I still respect the individual's choices they obviously like it on their car and having fun with it. I won't take this lying down....

grilles look gr8!

I'd say the badge would be semi-acceptable if the 1M wasn't coming out soon but now that it is it's false advertising. Think of a new gag, get your chrome ones painted in that color scheme if you want that but thats like me having a 335i and putting an M3 badge on it. Kudos for having the cahones to post pics when you knew you'd get flamed though.

I think the value of your car just went up from that ///M badge

just to have more fun with this, I got this by typing in bmw m on google, putting a m3 badge on a 335i is completely diffrent then just putting on a m emblem and just because the 1m is coming out has nothing to do with it, this is not false advertsing at all. it would be diffrent if I put an 1m or m1 badge on it... just like people that think the 1 is the cheapo bmw model does not mean they can not afford a 335 they do not know too much !about the 1 series ! right 1 addicts ops. I thought I explained it pretty clearly, We know the diffrence because we are enthusiast we know our cars, It's the others that don't know cars. Ive' learned so much from this site by many ops and i truely appreciate all the things i have learned and seen. I see guys getting slammed for putting on the m emblem because that person liked it and had to take it off because of the opposition.... I say do what you want with keeping in taste...

[edit] M-Cars vs. M-badged cars
There are several BMW models which BMW Motorsport made changes on, without them becoming full M-Cars e.g. BMW 530i M-line packet or 325i M-line packet etc. Vehicles which have been modified by BMW Motorsport, but are not full M Cars, may feature plain "M" badges with no number, whilst full M Cars will have "M" badges with the model number (e.g. "M3" or "M5"). One exception to this is the M Coupe model, both Z3 and Z4 variants, which only have on the boot a plain "M" badge with no number displayed. These cars are full M Cars.

In recent years, M badges have been used to accent non-M factory options. Examples of this include the E46 3 series, in which the performance package option upgraded the car to include M68 style rims which had small M badges below the BMW Roundels. In other instances, M styling without the badges has trickled down into non-M cars as factory options. For example, both the E39 and E60 5 series sedans had optional aerodynamic packages that included strongly influenced M5 styling (for example bumpers). It is not unusual to see "standard" BMW's with "M" badges or ribbons accenting the design. Simply look at the tachometer, without the M mark and the 300 km/h it's not an M5 E34.

The plain ///M Badge simply stands for M-tech upgrades on the car, suspension, brakes, looks or any other mod that has been developed by the ///M guys. So therefore the ///M badge should not under any circumstances be compared to the ///M+number badge (except the Z-cars, as mentioned), as they are not plain M-cars, just M-equipped.

In Europe for example, they have had these ///M options on the regular cars since the late 70's. Therefor you will also see many cars from Europe that carry these ///M-badges from factory.

I really don't think you have to explain yourself. I think the car looks great and the mods seem to be tasteful. I personally wouldn't add a badge myself, but like others said it's what floats your boat. After all you're the one that paid $40k for the car, do with it as you see fit. do you plan on tinting the windows ? also what brand/color paint did you use on the grills?

i think the difference is that its 1 thing if BMW puts the M badge on it, its another if you put in on. Not sure why but either way its your car, do what you want. (just a fair warning and not saying you should or should not care but when you post photos just prepare for this debate to continue for years and years and years.)

the color I chose was from bmw's palet silverstone I believe was for the 7 series and has a bit of blue in the grey could have been a bit lighter but I think my friend the painter was right too light looks cheap. I do plan on tinting the windows 35% just so i am not so transparent and adds a nice look but like i said trying to avoid making the car too black. I have the tail lens and brake getting a light smoke done and clear part left untinted as had done on my c55 this will be sprayed and baked.
