Ryno Insurance
Hi All
I know there are many posts regarding insurance and several have mentioned Ryno Insurance (based in Qld). On all those posts and apologies in advance if I missed it, no one has given their feedback after they have actually made a claim against Ryno Insurance. My question is whether anyone out there has made a claim, however minor or major, against Ryno and how was it dealing with them? I recently got several quotes from various insurance companies and Ryno were the cheapest by far at $875 p.a (about $300 lower than the next cheapest). I appreciate you get what you pay for but perhaps Ryno are trying to build their name and also given their small size and overheads (which can be a disadvantage), their premiums are cheaper. Before you suggest it, I did not scrutinize the respective PDS' of each company but I did ask the same questions of each company; - agreed value - choice of personal repairer (and not from a pre approved list) - used the same excess for all - free windscreen replacement - insurance against mods (lowered, exhaust, aftermarket rims) - protection of no-claim bonus - low km's bonus Thanks in advance..... |

I was with Ryno for the last 12 months, but have changed again (not due to unhappiness). They were definitely not the cheapest when i was looking, but i was having difficulties with my current insurer, so ran with them for 12 months. Service was pretty good, they are underwritten by Lloyds. I had a windscreen claim while with them, and went through without a hitch, i selected both the parts (OEM) and the repairer (not BMW).
I was pretty happy with them overall, just not the best price. The year i joined thgem they were 80p.a. more, but year 2 my original insurer GIO dropped their price again to 120 below Ryno.

I found Ryno were very reasonable to work with when it came to some underwriting criteria. eg: being under 30 and where it was being parked, etc. Other big name insurers were larger and were therefore unwilling to "bend" their rules.

$2600 based on 20,000km's and been 25...
Think I'll stick with Just Cars ~$1500 when I was 24, and who I've been with for my last 2 Supras, one of which was heavily modded... Might look into BMW insurance, since they weren't far off last time, but excesses were high due to been under 25 at the time. |

Ryno burst onto the scene years ago and got a lot of the WRX Club Qld as clients...then left them hanging on claims and Ryno cancelled all of their policies after twelve months. Personally I'd give them a miss.

Thanks mate. That is interesting. Seems a common occurence with Ryno that they cancel the policies at short notice (or once their risk appetite changes).
More concerning was the part about claims not being honoured..... |
